The Cambridge (what are they called?) haven't won any game vs. what I consider good teams. However, Goldsmith is possibly the best goalie in Minnesota, but he doesn't get much help in goal support. Can Goldsmith single-handedly knock off someone like Brainerd or Duluth East in the playoffs, or is there 0 chance? My personal opinion, probably would scare a team, but doubt they have any chance to win against the top dogs of 7AA.

The Cabridge-Isanti goalie is a quality goalie and can give many teams a tough time, but the rest of the C-I team isn't much to speak of and becasue of that they'll br a first round exit come section time. C-I is taking steps in the right direction though with a new coach who seems to where he wants to take the team and how to get them there. He also realizes he needs to work with the youth program to build a feeder program.

Cambridge does have a very solid goalie in Goldsmith. But the thing about hockey success is that it has to be a "team" effort. The only way Cambridge will be able to knock off someone in the playoffs is if they actually get some good playing from some of their other players at BOTH ends of the ice.

Like so many strong goalies on weak teams, he can't do it alone, although night after night, goalies like Goldsmith are left hung out to dry with no defensive play in front of the net.
It's a real shame.

I think they have a chance of stealing one. Goldsmith can keep them in the game and their 1st line isn't terrible. If Chumley clicks one night, watch out cuz there could be a game stolen.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Goldsmith is a good enough goalie to steal a playoff win, no doubt.

I noticed from the scores posted that Buffalo beat Cambridge 4-2 but the shots were 55-7! You can argue that Buffalo isn't on par with Duluth East but it certainly would raise the possibility that if Cambridge can get a lucky break and score a goal or two anything would be possible.

The other night Cambridge kept the score close with a decent Buffalo team (took Cloquet to overtime) by losing 4-2. Yea the shots were about 57-7 but they get outshot every game so thats not a big deal. On top of that though they were missing their top 2 leading scorers Garet Chumley and Tom Akers. The top line is the only scoring they have and without those 2 they dont have much left (except for Sanz but its hard for 1 player to do it alone). Cambridge did have a semi quality win when they beat Chisago Lakes. Chisago only lost to Blake 2-1 and SLP 6-4, Denfield 3-2. I would have to say yes Cambridge can win a playoff game but it would by nearly impossible for Goldsmith to steal 2 games against tis tough section.

I agree Legend7, I think they could steal a game but stealing two games in a row would be unlikely.

Steal a game, perhaps... but ONLY if their top line scores more than one goal. Goldsmith can't score the goals for these guys too.

The only bright spot on this team is Goldsmith, otherwise C-I isn't a very good hockey club. I don't think that they'll go anywhere, especially in one of the toughest sections in the state in 7AA.
