Zanman,

I have never commented in the past about the whole recruiting deal. I am sick of reading about it. I agree with you on the AHA recruiting deal. Why would any kid that wants to play hockey beyond his highschool days not want to go and play for a better program/coach? Any kid in there right mind would want to go where he feels is the best oppurtunity for him to further his hockey after highschool. And also it is a much better education on top of the whole hockey bonus. And I also agree that Trebil does not recruit. Like many other posters have said. When you continue to win and go to the Xcel, every kid wants to come and play for you. He does not have to recruit. He probably has more kids want to come and play for him then any of us even know about. I am not even a AHA fan. I just am sick of everyone coming on here talking about this non-issue.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... liveau4 at: 12/28/05 10:05 am

If a kid is good enough to play hockey beyond high school he doesn't need to transfer, you're still competing in the same league, against the same teams. If you need to surround yourself with all stars to be noticed maybe you're not good enough to play beyond high school. And like I said before there are leagues out there for teams like AHA.

Hue, you sound to me like you are very jealous of AHA. They obviously can be beat. If you don't like how good they are, maybe you should work that much harder to try and compete with them. Like I said before I am not a fan of AHA but I do have respect for them as they are arguably the best team in the state. What kid would not want to play for the best team in the state??????????????????

jenbelivewhatyouwant- To answer your question as " to what kid would not want to play at AHA?" Kids that have some sense of tradition, PRIDE in community, LOYALTY, and to play for the community that supported them for all the years before High School. How was the AHA bantam team last year?

jeanbeliveau4, I'm not jealous, I'm a Bantam A coach so we don't even have to compete with them. I just think high school hockey should be about building a program from the ground up which includes mites and squirts all the way up not about kids transfering to a school after they have been developed in another program because their parents can afford to send them there. AHA wasn't a good team when I was in high school, there were no private schools in the state tournament my senior year yet plenty on players went on the play college and some even pro.

Also, I garuntee that if the AHA hockey program was in the same position now as they were 10 years ago not one player on the first 3 lines of that team would be there so I consider them transfers.

Hue,

If they had a youth program I am sure they would also be a top notch program just like the high school and Trebil. Quit your whining. And BIAFwhatever your name is the whole "how was AHA's bantam team last year" thing is getting really old. Come up with something new once in awile. Everyone who whines about someone being good always has to go back to the whole recruting thing. Get over it. It is called open enrollment and unfortunately/fortunately it is here to stay I think. So give it a rest and enjoy watching some good hockey. That is all I am saying about it.

It seems so many threads go from ... whatever... to
Private vs Public
or recruiting....

I think if you look you can find a thread devoted to those topics OR just start one.

But to simplify maybe we can just use codes...

A - All private schools recruit hockey players, period.
B - Some recruit.
C - Some public schools recruit through open enrollment.
D - Slappy is the greatest thing on this forum.
or
E - ERpire is a dumb a**.

One time in the middle of reeming a kid out I saw Sarsiland accidentily spit his gum out, catch it in mid-air, put it back in his mouth and continued to chew him out. Just a fun little fact

Zamman:

I enjoy reading your info and I am not one to talk about recruiting as I believe programs recruit for themselves by how they play and where they end up. I also believe that Trebel would qualify as being one of the best coaches around. But I think you are wrong about next year:
"Trebil will take what he has on JV, and what is leftover from this years team and will produce another good team". I look forward to seeing the roster next year as I dont see the core coming from this years team and the JV. Brutlaug, the younger Matson, the older Matson, and Razloff will be solid but it will be interesting to see who their " other core players" will be, where they come from and what class they enter Holy Angels in.

The late Rube Gustafson at St. Paul Johnson from the 40's to the early 60's would definitely have to be considered one of the top all-time coaches.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... md>wbmd at: 12/31/05 9:31 am

Zamman:

Not to get off track of this thread about coaches but I have a question regarding the AHA depth chart!

In earlier threads you mentioned Nate Hansen as one of the degenseman this season but I do not see him listed. You have Polachek listed as a "D" also, did he get moved to defense this season?
