Edina Classic

Post by hshockeyfan8 » Sun Dec 15, 2013 4:34 pm

A little early, but can't contain my excitement for my favorite weekend of the regular season. This is perhaps the deepest that this field has ever been, with #2,#3 and #4 (Karl's rankings) all matching up with each other, as well as Grand Rapids who may have the best goalie in the state.

As I posted in the online streaming schedules, the entire Edina Classic will be video streamed here: http://psbmn.com/broadcasts/2103edinaho ... assic.html

This is going to be very competitive and while wins vs. Edina and Eden Prairie would be nice, I hope Rapids can keep their winning streak vs. Elk River again. I wonder if Peterson will snipe them in OT for the third straight game? 8)

GR goes 0-3.

ER beats EP loses to Edina

Edina beats EP
DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

Based on what I've seen of Rapids can't see how they can beat any of these elite teams. If they can keep the games competitive that will be progress. Allowing 6 goals to Duluth Marshall is not a good sign.

I'll take EP to win it.

I like the Elks to win it. Have they ever won the Edina Classic before?

I would agree. The young team just has to stay competitive in this one would be a good sign. Elks will cruise to 3-0 in Classic.

Gotta go with the Home team and their refs.

I would not be surprised to see Edina after a long stretch without a game play bad against Grand Rapids and maybe make it close or even lose.
I have edina losing one game for sure to either GR or ER. I think they will take it to Eden Prairie on the Last day.

I think Ep will end up with one win over GR. They have not played quite the quality of opponents that Elk river and Edina have so I think it will be a tough tourney for them.

The winner will come down to the Elk River Edina game

Edina Classic

I'n going to predict 2 teams go 2-1-0 and 2 teams go 1-2-0:

Edina with wins over ER and GR
Ep wins over Edina and GR
GR with a win or ER
ER with a win over Ep

ER looked fine, typical game between these 2 schools. ER goalie has to make one of those 2 stops on the 2 goals and their phenom Soph D man got walked. EP played a solid defensive game and will be a factor all year. ER may not have looked elite but who has? They are a top 6 team.

Wow. What a performance by Sheppard from Grand Rapids. Being a goalie and a goalie coach that was an unbelievable game regardless to the loss in OT. Watching him tonight proves to me that he is by far one of the top goalies in the state! He is technically sound and moves proficiently in the net. If I were a team in 7AA I would be careful for GR. This kid can easily steal a game as you saw tonight! His team gave up the puck numerous times and the kid stepped up to the plate. In the goalie world after an effort like that we would say, "That tendy battled all night." He was very fun to watch. I praise his efforts tonight. Great performance to the Senior goaltender!

No question Shepard is capable of stealing any game. What an effort.

Nice to hear, Glad Sheppard played great... but what was the score. How did both teams match up?

4-3 Edina in OT
Third period and OT played mostly in GR end, shooting gallery. GR turned it over on regular basis. Not sure what to make of it? GR PP looked good. Not sure what to make of Rapids. EP was solid and was missing 2 players including a top D-man. GR should get ready for ER.

Edina literally outplayed Rapids. Rapids couldn't get pucks out to save their life. A lot of bad turnovers and got worn out by the OT. The score was 4-3 in OT. Rapids didn't register a shot in OT. I believe shots were like 63-22 Edina.

What's the deal with Edina's goalie though? I have watched him twice now and he cant control anything that hits him! Any thoughts?
