AA Boys Investigation
Not sure why the last thread was locked, but there is an article on the Hub this weekend regarding the new investigation. Roster of 19 should yield 12 to be eligible for sectionals?
And Froggy, this team wasn't even a threat to beat any jealous parent's kid!

That's an interesting article (http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/news_article ... r_id=32760) especially considering that they supposedly recruited J.A. to play goalie for them - that's one of the transfer lawsuits against the MSHSL. I'm curious why there can be so many players with eligibility questions this late in the season when at least one player's eligibility was denied before the season began.

Yes, this is off-topic but I'll bite. I heard yesterday that Phil Beaulieu takes his classes online and doesn't actually attend Duluth East. I have no reason to doubt my source, although he said he read it in the Duluth News Tribune (which is quite the rag).offtheglas wrote:Maybe they should check out some Northern Schools. This seems strange to me. How can someone take only online classes but still be eligible to play high school hockey?

Home schooled kids are still able to be involved in school activities.. From what I've heard.Traxler wrote:Yes, this is off-topic but I'll bite. my last words on AA
Anonymous source "close" to the investigation(s)... I'm assuming that means under the school directed gag order. A parent I know personally at the school, girls team. A parent whose son left before the year started.
1)Nine players who were previously rostered during the regular season are not rostered today - including their 2nd leading point scoring forward, 2 of the top 5 D, and their top 2 goalies. At least 3 of these players were rostered last year at varsity, making this their second year of ineligibility.
2)In additional to MSHL, the State of Minnesota Dept. of Education is investigating the school side for using academic grant $ for athletic expenses (it's not legal to pay your coaches with the money for your teachers, especially if the State gives it to you.)
3)The boys team struggled to fill their schedule this year as it was widely acknowledged inside and outside the program that AA was breaking eligibility rules. (Other violations continue to be alleged.)
4)The player who was rumored to be unable to find high level math help and had to find outside tutoring on this forum was quoted directly. Also that he lives with his linemate's grandmother (which is not illegal if he came in as a freshman or got a waiver from MSHL.)
As you know I'm not an attorney but I play one on this forum. This information verified by people I know both in real life and social media. I will not tell you that anything here has been independently verified or would stand up in court. But 2+2 always equals 4 and if it looks like a duck it seems to be a cheating duck.
Forgot
5) allegations of illegal coach/"recruit" contact via phone, email, and in person. Additional allegations of financial "scholarships" and non-needs based tuition awards and forgiveness based both on participation AND performance. I don't think I've ever heard of financial aid contingent on high school hockey performance.
In light of the MANY additional accusations, rumors, and true stories from AA families coming my way via PM, I am asking that people please post your own experiences and hearsay rather than asking to add to this post. I only feel comfortable sharing what I know, what is actively being investigated, or what has been shared with me by AA families. That's what I've shared here. (DISCLAIMER: innocent until proven guilty. Like when it's published by the non-social media, rosters are officially revised, or the first of countless potential litigious actions are filed.)
Having said that, I'm going to enjoy the next few weeks watching the teams actually PLAYING in the state tourneys! I will leave the rest to the real attorneys. I'm leaving AA behind boys, like the families leaving and trying to leave in this post-scandal exodus....

Beaulieu does PSEO, and PSEO students are still enrolled into Duluth East High School, so he actually is considered a student there.Traxler wrote:Yes, this is off-topic but I'll bite. DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.
Goalies from last five years-offtheglas wrote:Don't know but speculating that their goalies from previous years relocated but may have never moved the to the Duluth area. It could be completely untrue but nonetheless something that may have skirted the rules.
JoJo Jeanetta- life long resident.
Dylan Parker- family moved to Duluth for a job his 8th grade year.
Paige Skoog- family moved from Forest Lake to Duluth explicitly to play hockey. He ended up riding the bench the whole year, and getting lit up at hockey day. He could've stayed at Forest Lake and been their starter.
Gunnar Howg- life long resident
All were done legally.

He moved for hockey.
His Mom moved with him, maybe for a job too, but his Dad stayed in Sartell for his job.
All were done legally.

Hey offtheglas, do you have any specific examples? You just make unsubstantiated accusations and pretend that they are valid. Let's have some real facts and evidence. No school is in the same category as Acheater Academy. I can smell the stench of that program 200 miles away. Facts provide evidence for both the boys and girls programs. Not blaming the kids but the administration at the school.
