Does anyone else know how often this happens?
Hey PH, hopefully they didn't get that video mixed up with a video from Spudnut's library and sent the wrong one

Two easy wins for Roseau, Moorhead and Bemidji in the section in the foreseeable future

Pretty crappy way that this was handled. Another instant of parents chasing a coach out! Be careful what you wish for. Good luck finding ANY coach that will put the time, energy and committment into Brainerd Hockey that Archibald has!

Haven't followed Brainerd hockey very closely but has coach Archibald changed as a HS coach. I remember him at UND in the early to mid 80's as a real agitator.

Would be a nice change of events if someone chased out the wacko parents for a change, eh ?

Rumors have swirled over the last year that he might leave the program due to that very thing right there, he wants to see his son play more at the next level, its only a rumor though so take it with a grain of salt.

Those rumors have been flying since Josh went to Omaha but that's not the case. The school board voted to not renew his contract. He didn't resign.

This is really too bad. In the world we live in now being PC is everything unfortunately. I predict this program takes a turn for the worse.

So the first 2 pages are what a horrible environment the coach leads and when the school gets rid of him it's the politics and parents? I have no ax to grind here but does anyone else see this as a little strange?

This thread was started by a Spud fan and most of the negative posts are not Brainerd fans.

While the process may not be over yet, non-renewal by the school board is not a good start. It is extremely difficult to reverse such a decision, and even if one is successful, the process usually comes with a strong dose of ill-will, within the community. At times the end result isn't worth the fight. The East situation is one of the few examples of overcoming a non-renewal, and that took time. Am guessing there were a number of damaged relationships, too.

So far these posts give the impression that Brainerd fans love their coach and are shocked at the school board's decision. Maybe that's true for a few, but there are a lot of people hoping the school board will stick with their decision. No one can argue that he has passion, has given a lot of time, and has even done some great things for the program. Those things are overshadowed, however, by the culture of fear he created. This isn't about "wacko" parents whining about playing time or whatever. Kids have been damaged. Sometimes a coach really does need to go.
