Two games reported as final so far:
Centennial 2, Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids 5
Taylor Turnquist led the way with three goals and an assist to pace the Panthers to a 5-2 upset win over the Cougars.
HUGE upset according to our panel of experts! Only one - misterright - predicted the upset and gains a point on the rest of the field.
Roseau 4, Thief River Falls 3
Ellice Murphy scored what proved to be the winning goal at 14:50 of the 2nd Period, and just 10 seconds later Maggie Crosson added another to put the Rams up 3-1. The Pwowlers' Kora Torkelson then answered with two goals - one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd - to close the margin to one, but the Rams held on the rest of the way for the 4-3 win. For the game Thief River Falls outshot Roseau 32-14.
Another upset according to our group, with just three – JohnnyBuck, mnhockey3535 and u12dad – picking the Rams to win and adding a point each.

White Bear Lake 3, Cretin-Derham Hall 0
Emma Kaske’s goal and an assist led the Bears over the Raiders at Highland Arena. In net, White Bear’s Calla Frank was perfect, holding CDH scoreless on 27 shots.
This was our third consecutive big upset to lead off Week 3. Only READYtoPLAY and panpan111 saw this coming. With the Bears’ win over No. 10AA CDH, plus SLP/CR’s upset of No. 16AA Centennial, the two 19th and 20th ranked teams each make a statement, saying they belong...

Chaska/Chanhassen 4, Breck 6
Gabby Billing’s two goals and an assist led the Mustangs, as they outscored
the Storm Hawks 6-4 at Breck’s Anderson Arena. Abigail Riskevich was also a key contributor, adding a goal and two assists. For the game Breck outshot Chaska/Chanhassen 33-18.
For the first time this evening the “favorite” (according to our group) came away victorious. Breck’s win allowed 18 of 26 to pick up a point. However so far this evening, not one contestant has gotten the score right. Very unlike last week, so far...

Red Wing 3, Blake 9
Julia Shepard’s hat trick and Carly Bullock’s two goals led top-rated Blake to an easy 9-3 win over 9th ranked Red Wing at the Blake School Ice Arena. With two goals and an assist, Red Wing’s Taylor Heise figured in all three of Red Wing’s goals, but it was not nearly enough to counter Blake’s very talented offense. For the game they outshot the Wingers 38-15.
For just the second time this evening the outcome of this game did not surprise our group…but it had no impact on our standings as everyone (26 of 26) forecasted a Blake win. And once again, nobody got the score right.

Final result of the evening, according to Minnesota-Scores.net:
Elk River/Zimmerman 1, Maple Grove 1 (OT)
Not surprising that no one would even get a point, the way tonight went! Easy summary for a very "defensive" first night this week:
READYtoPLAY
Misterright and
u12dad
have 3 points each; everyone else is a point or two behind. So, the good news I guess is that everyone is still very much in it...otherwise, not a very impressive start for our group as a whole.
Next games (two) not until Friday night, then a big finish with five games on Saturday.

Just two games from earlier today:
Centennial 5, New Prague 4
Centennial got third period goals from Anneke Linser and Gabbie Hughes to come from behind and secure a 5-4 win over the 10th ranked Class A Trojans at Prior Lake Arena. Shots in this game were very even, with New Prague holding a slight advantage at 26-24.
Our expert panel overwhelming had the Cougars winning, but most thought they would have an easier time doing so. On average, the group’s predicted score was 4.9 to 2.0. But, 25 of 27 did pick up a single point, as there were no correct scores.
Proctor/Hermantown 0, Breck 4
Breck’s Abigail Riskevich scored two goals to lead the Mustangs over the Mirage at Breck’s Anderson Ice Arena. Amanda Navratil assisted on both of Riskevich’s goals, while in net Jenna Brenneman had to make just 12 saves to get the shutout. At the other end Amy Lemenager was called upon to make 39 saves for the Mirage.
As was the case in the first game, the vast majority (24 of 27) got the winner right, but once again no correct scores. This, despite the average predicted score being 4.3 to 1.6, Breck.
So, both games didn’t do much of anything to open up much of a lead for anyone heading into Saturday’s big final day. It is very tight, so I’ll only name the 3 leaders:
Tied for 1st with 5 points each: READYtoPLAY, mnhockey3535 and u12dad
Tied for 4th with 4 points each: 15 others [we still have hope! ]
Tied for 19th with 3 points each: 7 others
Two others with 2 points each

Centennial / New Prague
I was at this game - hard fought game for both teams. New Prague controlled the play and was up 4-3 in the 3rd until Skaja left the game for 8 minutes with a knee/hip injury. Centennial scored two while she was out. Skaja came back for the final 3 minutes and New Prague had chances (hit the post) but couldn't finish. It was a fun game to watch and I was surprised with New Pragues team speed. Centennial had a great first line.

Four of today’s five games are now posted as final:
Proctor/Hermantown 1, St. Paul United 5
No. 4A St. Paul United extended their season record to 8-0 with a 5-1 win over visiting Proctor/Hermantown. Catherine Kerin got the United rolling with her two goals and assisted on Sena Hanson’s late 3rd period goal to wrap up the scoring. Hanson also finished with three points on her goal and two assists. Karie Lenard was Proctor/Hermantown’s only player to solve the United’s Catherine Johnson. Johnson finished with 26 saves on 27 Mirage shots.
This game saw our group breaking out of a mini slump in the correct scores department as three people – READYtoPLAY, Misterright and Hansonbrother - predicted the 5-1 United win. Twenty-two others added a single point, while three more stayed where they were.
Blake 7, Buffalo 1
Carly Bullock’s hat trick propelled No. 1A Blake to a convincing 7-1 win over Buffalo at the Buffalo Civic Center. Bullock also added an assist for a 4 point afternoon, while three of her teammates - Madeline Wethington (two goals), Sara McClanahan (a goal and an assist) and Lucy Burton (two assists) - finished with two points apiece. In goal Olivia Bizal stopped all but one of the Bison’s 21 shots.
READYtoPLAY is learning how to play this game real fast as he(?) adds another two points with a perfect 7-1 score prediction. All but one add just a single point.
Hill-Murray 3, Lakeville South 2
Single goals by Jac Kaasa, Haylee Blinkhorn and Mekenzie Steffen were enough to allow the No. 1 ranked Pioneers to escape Lakeville’s Hasse Arena and extend their record to 4-0. After falling behind by two goals Lakeville South’s Janna Haeg closed the gap to one with just over four minutes to play, but the upset was not to be. For the game the Pioneers outshot the Cougars 39-17; with 36 saves Chloe Crosby did her part to keep it close throughout.
And once again in our contest nearly everyone went with the favorite in their prediction, with all but two picking up a single point. Somewhat surprising was the fact that just one also got the score right: hockeybozo gets the bonus and adds two.
Breck 1, Edina 2
Edina’s Emily Oden and Lolita Fidler provided all the offense the Hornets would need in a 2-1 victory over the Breck Mustangs. Fidler’s unassisted winning goal came with just 4 seconds left in the second period, and a scoreless 3rd period followed. With the win Edina moved to 5-0 to start the season, while Breck fell to 6-2.
Not so surprising is the fact that again just one – hockeybozo – gets the score right and adds another two points. Twenty-two others add one, while five are shut out.
I’ll add a final post with Week 3’s final standings once the outcome of the Warroad/Roseau game is determined.

Warroad 6, Roseau 2
Mariah Gardner’s three goals and two assists led Warroad to a 6-2 victory over rival Roseau. Madison Oelkers also had a big hand in the Warriors’ win, scoring twice while adding two helpers. Mack Bergstrom scored both goals for Roseau. For the game the Warriors outshot the Rams 31-22.
22 of 27 had Warroad winning and add a point each. There were quite a few who came close on the score, at either 6-1 or 5-2, but nobody quite got it right.
With our final game now in the books, we can declare and offer congratulations to our Week 3 Champion: READYtoPLAY! “R2P” managed to get two scores correct this week, and that along with one more win prediction was enough to edge out hockeybozo, who managed two correct scores himself. They were the only two to pull this off, and both did it on the final day – in different games. Overall it was a tough week for predicting scores: only six of them out of 345 total guesses. That's less than 2%, or fewer than 1 out of 50.
Again, a BIG CONGRATS to READYtoPLAY!
