8-1 final. Shots 30-10 in favor of Pioneers. HM did give up their 3rd short handed goal of season and 18th goal overall. WBL and Mounds View on deck.

0-0 after 1. Shots 8-5 for WBL although Mounds View had better chances. Sydney Brodt is best player on the ice so far, although she has 12 seconds left to serve in a minor penalty starting period two.

Mounds View scores 3:25 into second. Rest of period was back and forth. WBL had really good pressure near end of 2nd, but had a defensemen misplay an easy clear in front of net and MV bangs one home with 5 seconds left in period. 2-0 Mustangs heading to 3rd.

Goal was a pp goal, not shorthanded...HM screwed up shift change during pk which led to 5 on 2..the stats for the game are way wrong , hopefully they will change them

HM has not allowed any shorthanded goals this yr, and now has only allowed 3 pp goals.

Mounds View with the minor upset, but looking like the better team wins 2-0. Well, unless they score again inn the last 30 seconds...

Sparlimb, thanks for the updates from Aldrich tonight.

I'm working on everything, lots of games in both classes tonight. But I thought I would post this shocker:

Roseau 0, Buffalo 1

Big game for spars46 in our contest!

Well I meant HM was shorthanded, but thank you for clarifying...

The revenge wasn't so sweet for Roseau. Craziness. How soon will the whining start that the MSHSL wants an all metro state tournament? I can still hear the echoes of those comments from last year...

Hub has Roseau winning 5-2...

Thanks guys. Yet another time a game is shown as a final with a wrong score!

Although I believe everything here to be correct, it's subject to change after I double-check everything! Lots of games, lots of numbers tonight...and on occasion what's first reported on the Hub turns out to be wrong.

2AA

2AA Semifinals - Upper Bracket
#1 Minnetonka 7, #5 Holy Family/Waconia 2

2AA Semifinals - Lower Bracket
#3 Chaska/Chanhassen 3, #2 Eden Prairie 6

Notes:
(1) Everyone had Tonka winning this, but only three gave themselves had them playing Holy Family/Waconia to give themselves a chance at the correct score bonus. But only cjmhockey19 came close with his 7-2 prediction. So three points all around.
(2) Some point separation here as 5 of 20 favored the Storm Hawks to win this. No correct scores.

2AA Final
#1 Minnetonka vs. #2 Eden Prairie @6:00pm on 2/12/16 at Ridder Arena

4AA

4AA Semifinals - Upper Bracket
#1 Hill-Murray 8, #5 Stillwater 1

2AA Semifinals - Lower Bracket
#3 Mounds View 2, #2 White Bear Lake 0

Notes:
(1) The No. 1 seeded and No. 1 ranked Pioneers had no problem with the fifth seeded Ponies, a result everyone anticipated. massalsa went one step further by predicting the 8-1 score.
(2) A minor upset of a #3 over a #2, but a slight majority of our panel (11 of 20) called it right. But no correct scores as none of those 11 forecasted the Bears being held scoreless.

4AA Final
#1 Hill-Murray vs. #3 Mounds View @7:30pm on 2/11/16 at Roseville Arena

5AA

5AA Semifinals - Upper Bracket
#1 Maple Grove 5, #4 Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids 0

5AA Semifinals - Lower Bracket
#3 Blaine 2, #2 Centennial 3

Notes:
(1) The Crimson were a unanimous pick to reach the section final, and 12/20 had them playing Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids in this semifinal to get there. None of the 12 got the score just right, although MNHockeyFan came close with his 5-1 pick (darn!).
(2) A very tight game both on the ice and in our contest. 9 of 20 picked the Cougars to win, and of those nine there were FIVE who also nailed the score, and they pick of a big five points on the 11 who went with the Bengals. Just wish I was one of them… :(

5AA Final
#1 Maple Grove vs. #2 Centennial @7:00pm on 2/12/16 at Roseville Arena

8AA

8AA Semifinals - Upper Bracket
#1 Roseau 5, #4 Buffalo 2

8AA Semifinals - Lower Bracket
#6 River Lakes 0, #2 Sartell/Sauk Rapids 3

Notes:
(1) All but one had the top-seeded Rams advancing, with cjmhockey19 and The Bone also calling the 5-2 score.

(2) All 20 contestants had the Storm’NSabres getting to the final, but everyone had them beating the Icebreakers – not the Stars – to get there…so no correct scores.

8AA Final
#1 Roseau vs. #2 Sartell/Sauk Rapids @7:00pm on 2/12/16 at Neutral Site

And the Leaderboard - I knew my one point lead wouldn't last for more than one day! Again, preliminary and subject to audit:

1. wolfman - 74

2. massalsa - 71

3. 36Guy - 69

4. THEBUCKSTOPSHERE - 68

5. Knight7 - 67

18. One with 58

3AA
Section Championship
#1 Eastview 4, #2 Eagan 3 (OT)

Note: First, congrats to Eastview on being the first team to be going to the Class AA tournament. Best of luck at the X, and enjoy the experience!

Only five participating here had the Lightning going, and two were wise enough to also get the score right. Big game for Knight7 and spars46!

6AA

6AA Semifinals - Upper Bracket
#1 Edina 6, #5 Benilde-St. Margaret’s 0

6AA Semifinals - Lower Bracket
#3 Wayzata 4, #2 Cretin-Derham Hall 2

Notes:
(1) Everyone had the Hornets advancing to the 6AA final on Friday, but most (15 of 20) thought they would need to beat Hopkins to get there. After BSM upset Hopkins in the semi, they didn’t put up much of a fight in this one. With no correct scores, three points all around.

(2) A fairly major upset according to our group. Just 3 of 20 went with Wayzata, which is a bit surprising...but then again the Trojans were inconsistent towards the end of the season whereas the Raiders seemed to be finding their game. Of the three who went against the grain and had Wayzata winning we did have one correct score - congrats to hugo_lucas on a great call.

6AA Final
#1 Edina vs. #3 Wayzata @8:00pm on 2/12/16 at Ridder Arena

rascalbrock - 72

6. THEBUCKSTOPSHERE - 71

1AA
#2 Dodge County 2, #1 Lakeville South 3 (OT)
After a scoreless 3rd period it was Emily Fischler netting the winner with 1:58 to go in the first overtime period.
Our group was fairly evenly split on this one with the Cougars outpolling the Wildcats by a 12-7 margin. GoalieDefense, rascalbrock, THEBUCKSTOPSHERE, easthockeydad and MNHockeyFan :) all got the score right.

Much better period for Mounds View. Sydney Brody with an early 2nd period goal. Shots 10-10 for the seconds. I think HM was short handed for half the period. Refs are calling penalties anytime someone falls on either side. Too bad to see.

It's unfortunate, but this is often how girls games are called. Players who fall a lot have an advantage over players who are strong on their skates, who continually get hacked, hooked, slashed with no call. Starting to see more kids dive as they know when they go down they will get the call.

7AA
#2 Forest Lake 3, #1 Elk River/Zimmerman 2 (2 OT’s)
(game details not yet available)

Major upset according to our panel. Only 4 of 20 favored the Rangers to topple the No. 1 seeded Elks. But of the four who did, THREE also nailed the 3-2 score. To pick up 7 points on 80% of the field is obviously a HUGE game for these guys: 36Guy, panpan111 and (especially) massalsa! ;)

No. 1 seeded and No. 1 ranked Hill-Murray got goals from Erica Steigauf, Taylor Henthorne and Lindsey Featherstone to skate past Mounds View. Ava Bailey stopped 19 of 20 shots in limiting the Mustangs to a single goal scored by Sydney Brodt.

All 20 had the Pioneers winning the section, but all 20 had them scoring at least 4 goals, so no correct scores.

Edited 2/12/16 to correct Hill-Murray's goalie to Ava Bailey.
Edited 2/12/16 to correct goal scorer on Hill-Murray's first goal, from Mekenzie Steffen to Erica Steigauf.

Pretty sure the Pioneers had the freshman Ava Bailey in nets last night. Looks like they are going with the younger of the two the rest of the way (she played against Stillwater too).

Thanks, Sparlimb, I've made the correction in my post above. Looks like the Pioneers will be set in goal for a few more years!

As will the Mustangs. Teagan Johnson had a very, very good season as a 9th grader. The only game I saw her even remotely look shaky was against Blake, where Carly Bullock scored three. I think that is completely understandable.
