#2 Breck 2, #1 Blake 3 (OT)
Sara McClanahan’s goal just 2:24 into overtime won it for the top-seeded Bears over rival Breck. Shots on goal ended even at 27 apiece. For those in attendance it must have been a tremendous battle to witness, yet a real heartbreaker for the Mustangs players and fans.

11 of 13 thought Blake would prevail, and of those 11 a remarkable SIX also got the score correct: mnhockey3535, hugo_lucas, nu2hockey, sinbin, puckdreams and spars 46 all pick up the extra 2 bonus points. As I said, remarkable!

#3 South St. Paul 1, #1 St. Paul United 3
Sena Hanson scored two goal to lead St. Paul United over the Packers.

All but one picked the United to advance, but no correct scores.

#2 Thief River Falls 1, Warroad 3
(game stats not yet available)
9 of 13 had the top-seeded Warriors winning, but only cjmhockey19 got the score right, and in the process adds 2 big points to keep him in the hunt.

Catie Skaja figured in all five of New Prague's goals, scoring four of them while assisting on Jordan Anderson's opening goal. Anderson also contributed two assists. The Trojans handily outshot the White Hawks 28-10.

Tough game to call, as evidenced by our narrow 7-6 split. Nobody thought New Prague would score more than 4, so no bonus points.

#3 Hibbing/Chisholm 0, #1 Proctor/Hermantown 3
(final game stats not yet available)

This result did not surprise anyone as all 13 picked the top-seeded Mirage to win the section. However nobody had them pitching a shutout so just 5 points all around.

Congratulations to all the players and coaches on winning your section and getting to State. Good luck and have fun!

Final Class A Section Winners
1A: Northfield
2A: New Prague
3A: Luverne
4A: St. Paul United
5A: Blake
6A: Alexandria
7A: Proctor/Hermantown
8A: Warroad

With all the No. 1 seeds winning their section, the Class A State Tournament should be about as competitive as it possibly could be, and we fans are looking forward to seeing some great hockey action!

In terms of our Class A Section contest, we can now declare a winner. In what may be the closest such finish in contest history, it's massalsa winning by a single point over mnhockey3535, who held the lead after Tuesday's big slate of games. But mnhockey3535 (and the rest of us) should feel no shame in losing to massalsa, who just happens to be leading the Class AA contest heading into Friday's four final games. Not that he needs it, but good luck to him as it would be fun if he were to hang in there and win them both!

Final Class A Standings

1. massalsa - 107

2. mnhockey3535 - 106

3. hugo_lucas - 102

4. nu2hockey - 101

5. MNHockeyFan - 99
cjmhockey19 - 99

7. wolfman - 98
sinbin - 98

9. u12dad - 96
puckdreams - 96

11. spars46 - 95

12. One with 88

13. One with 85

To: Everyone but massalsa ;)
Look for a combined Class A and AA State Tournament Contest to be posted shortly!

I am happy merely to have tied Wolfman.
