I couldn't agree more. Wayzata is peaking at the right time. Looking forward to the tourney. It's great to see some new teams in it this year.green4 wrote:I don't get why so many people have Ep over Wayzata. The trojans beat them more recently and have been much better down the stretch.
I hope Stillwater wins tonight.
Good luck to all the teams. It's the best High School Tournament in the country. IMO

The first option puts Bemidji vs GR in the first round game. This is a tourney downer for the fans to have the northern teams play each other right away. Hoping for Hill win to disperse the northern teams more evenly.

I think this has that makings of a very contentious seedings meeting, no matter if Stillwater wins or not. There will be some sentiment to give Stillwater and Bemidji higher seeds based on their records, but their 'weaker' schedules must be taken into account - and that's where I think the issues will arise. You can only beat who you play, will be widely heard among coaches there, and being a fly on the wall in that room would be very entertaining.

On the other hand if the 2 northern teams play each other in the first round at least 1 will be at Xcel on Friday night.Goalie41Dad wrote:Joe2015 wrote:If Stillwater wins:

It's a good argument, but I do think the coaches are able to tell the difference about at team though from an earlier point in the season to what they are now. Wayzata is one of those teams. And they will get the benefit of the doubt because of the gauntlet that is the Lake conference and being one of the 2AA/6AA representatives.rainier wrote:Bemidji and Wayzata common opponents:
Hill-Murray- Bemidji wins 6-2, Wayzata loses 7-1
Hermantown- Bemidji wins 4-2, Wayzata loses 5-3
Grand Rapids- Wayzata wins 3-2, Bemidji ties 1-1
I gotta think Bemidji gets seeded ahead of Wayzata.
Whether it's fair or not is debatable, but recent history will give them the benefit of the doubt and it can be argued that it's probably deserved.
I'm pretty sure its a teleconference.mnmouth wrote:I think this has that makings of a very contentious seedings meeting, no matter if Stillwater wins or not. Yeah I would love to see the all northern final, but there is no guarantee they would both advance to meet later on either.Goalie41Dad wrote:Joe2015 wrote:If Stillwater wins:

I stand corrected.Doc Holliday wrote:Wayzata also beat Hill-Murray 2-0.rainier wrote:Bemidji and Wayzata common opponents:

Wayzata has been good lately, but Bemidji has won their last 13 games, which includes wins over HM, Hermantown, and Moorhead.
Even with the win over HM, Wayzata is 2-2 vs common teams and were outscored 9-14. Bemidji is 2-0-1 vs common teams and outscored them 11-5.
It will be interesting to see where these two teams end up.

2 outcomes based on Stillwater/Hill game
Stillwater wins:
1 Ponies
2 Wayzata
3 Eden Prairie
4 Bemidji
5 Grand Rapids
Sorry, I don't see anyway of avoiding the Northern team match up in that scenario. I seed Wayzata higher based on the Lake Conference record, and the record down the stretch.
Hill Murray wins:
1 Wayzata
2 Eden Prairie
3 Bemidji
4 Grand Rapids
5 Hill Murray
This is the way to avoid the Northern matchup in the quarters. I wrestled with Farmington at 5, but felt HM deserved it based on strength of schedule.
This year is bizarre.
The preseason #1 pick Eden Prairie certainly has a dream scenario before them. Blaine, Lakeville N, and BSM were certainly matchup problems for them. Wayzata or GR might be the only teams that can expose their goaltending and defense. The only way a team can beat them is to shutdown C M (almost impossible), and get a lot of shots on their goalie (easier said than done).

LPH final rankings had them in this order.....
2-Stillwater
6-Eden Prairie
8-Wayzata
9-Bemidji
10-Grand Rapids
16-Hill Murray
19-Burnsville
20-Farmington
NR-Anoka
I bet they stay in that order, a Hill Murray win would have Lake Conference teams on opposite sides of the bracket and the 3 outstste schools spread out. A Stillwater win puts EP and Wayzata in the same bracket and runs the risk of the 3 outstate schools all in the same bracket.

Conspiracy theory will kick in. EP is everyone's darling so they will be seeded over Wayzata. They don't want an all north first round matchup so Bemidji will jump Wayzata. Wayzata will then be forced to play Grand Rapids in the first round as 4/5 battle prime time--higher ratings. Would be a fun game so who cares. GB
