Post Mortem on PreSeason Rankings

Post by WestMetro »

Karl, an official debriefing from you on this topic , from rereviewing the various pundit predictions?
------------------------------------------------------

West Metro cant help but be a little proud this year. Yes, I missed the Spuds and overestimated the Skips but had most the rest in roughly the correct grouping tiers. Giving myself credit on Wayzata, because despite their terrible season they got to the X out of Section 6. And kind of proud I stuck with the Cougers all the way.

Wont miss the Spuds next year, as I already have them in my top 5. Same for Rapids, assuming all talent returns.

Here was my preseason top 15:

1. Eden Prairie
2. Stillwater
3. Wayzata (lol)
4. Elk River
5. Grand Rapids
6. Holy Family
7. St. Thomas Academy
8. Minnetonka
9. Edina
10. Lakeville North
11. Lakeville South
12. Prior Lake
13. Centennial
14. Duluth East
15. Moorhead

Hill landed at 17, and Maple Grove at 18.

Looks like you were a little closer to reality than I was, WestMetro, and we made some of the same mistakes. I was a little lower on GR than some, probably because I questioned whether they have the depth and defense that have been the hallmarks of most recent state champions. They bucked that trend, though they also got much better in those departments as the season went along. Moorhead, Hill, and MG were all somewhat underrated, but for very different reasons, it seems.
