STATE TOURNEY SEEDING CHALLENGE

Post by nu2hockey » Fri Feb 16, 2018 6:44 am

Just for fun, we have our STATE TOURNEY teams for class A ...

1A RED WING

2A NEW ULM

3A MARSHALL

4A SPU

5A BRECK

6A ALEXANDRIA

7A PROCTOR/HERMANTOWN

8A WARROAD

See if you can correctly seed these teams for the CLASS A STATE TOURNEY...plus, show how YOU would seed the tourney if it differs from how the coaches seed the teams

remember they only seed 1-5 and have 3 unseeded teams who are drawn to play against seeds 1-3

If you wish, try to pair the unseeded with your 1-3 seeds also

Most likely scenario...its straight LPH rankings...however I am not sold on Alex right now..

1. Warroad
2. Breck
3. Red Wing
4. SPU
5. Alex

The one thing that seems apparent is that the GAP between the top teams and the unseeded teams is a whole lot closer than previous years...

The Class A TOURNEY could be a fun show

Yup, 3 - 5 are pretty tight, but Alex has been rock solid the last half of the year, winning 12 of 13 with the only loss a closely contested match against Breck. They really toughened up their schedule this year.

Not my prediction, but interesting how KRACH had them ranked when last done on February 3rd:

1. Breck
2. Warroad
3. Alexandria
4. Red Wing
5. St. Paul United

http://www.mghca.com/page/show/427556-k ... a-rankings

And, for what's it's worth, QRF (which is up-to-date) has them:

1. Red Wing
2. Breck
3. Warroad
4. St. Paul United
5. Alexandria

I think the top 3 have to be:

1. EDINA (2 losses,1 tie)
2. CENTENNIAL(3 losses,1 tie)
3. HILL MURRAY (4 losses)

Since they went 1-1 against each other...

4. probably ANDOVER
5. ?

Didn't get KRACH updated in time to beat these out - but now it is and it says:

1 Breck
2 Warroad
3 United
4 Alex
5 Red Wing

KRACH agrees but would have put Eagan and Brainerd in front of EP.

I was looking at KRACH ranking today and it seems like it is missing some games for a few teams.

So far only difference I'm seeing is non mshsl games not included in KRACH but that's expected. Warroad, for example, has some of those so their KRACH record will contain fewer games in total.

If there are others, please let me know.

Oh... that makes sense, I didn't think of those games. I was looking at game totals only. Sorry!

No problem. Appreciate the second set of eyes on this. Note that LSQ does include those games and they are part of the teams' official records, obviously.
