Fantastic article. I remember reading it at the time.
Most of all I remember this line from near the end of the article, about the players leaving the Mariner locker room after losing the final 6-0:
I imagine it had been quite some time since those boys had lost 6-0.
It was a very sympathetic and touching line, enough so that even a Pioneer could feel empathy for those White Bear kids. And ever since, when I see a good team lose badly in a huge game, I always think about the kids on the losing side.
