Warner crashed into the boards pretty hard in the third period against Alex Tuesday. He came back and even scored the game winner, but seemed to be in some pain. I’m guessing it is a lingering effect from that spill.

Spuds 1, Skippers 1 after 1. Taters' Ethan Miller with a big save to keep it even at the buzzer. Tonka has been the stronger team, but Moorhead is holding its own, and their top line has some nice moments. Henkemeyer-Howe did it all himself on the Spuds' goal, and Lagerback had the answer for Tonka.

In prissy private school action, Breck coughed up another hairball and lost to SPA 7-3. In a crazy third period, Breck clawed back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game with two early goals, then promptly gave up four unanswered goals in a five minute span. Despite the record, SPA is much improved this year and has a few legit players.

SOG 19-13 in favor of Blake.
Kind of a sloppy game on both sides. Raiders gave up a softy at the end of the first to put the Bears up 2-1, and no scoring in the second. Over half of Greenway’s shots came on an extended PP, including some 5 on 3 time, but they couldn’t convert.

Skippers 2, Spuds 1 after 2. Lots of play in the Spuds' end that period, in part thanks to penalties.

This is my first viewing of the Skippers and while they certainly look strong and deep, and have an edge in their top D pair and in goal that most contenders don't, I don't think they're on a different level from some of the other top 10 teams I've seen. It's going to be a very open chase for the title.

EGF throttles Alex 7-1 and only gave up 10 shots. Alex looked very tired (over confident maybe?). EGF controlled game from drop of the puck. Alex scored first goal on misplay by EGF goalie and all Wave after that.

Skippers 5, Spuds 2 (EN) final. Tonka really wore the Spuds down in the 3rd and controlled the final frame. The Spuds clawed a second goal back near the end before the empty-netter sealed it. Tonka remains #1.

Very uninspired effort from the Raiders. I realize this was the second game of a back-to-back on a long road trip, but something is just not right with this team. Blake did not play well, but still managed to pull away fairly easily. The Bears walked right through the Greenway defense off the opening faceoff in the third, added a shorthanded breakaway goal a few minutes later, and it was basically game over. Neither team is very deep, which should have been a good matchup for Greenway, yet they could not keep up with Blake’s speed and gave up too many wide open scoring chances.

After five losses in a row, the upcoming road game against Eveleth is now critical.

Greenway has not played well defensively since the Rapids game. Their schedule has not given them a chance to gain any confidence. They could be 2-10 or 3-9 going into January. Only possible wins I see are Eveleth-Gilbert and Delano. I believe they were short two players because of injury but that would not have changed the outcome this weekend. Was hoping a full week of practice would have resulted in some progress.

The Elks just knocked off Rapids in OT 3-2. The video feed went down at the end of 2 so I had to listen on radio after that. Was a pretty evenly played game. Shots were about 28-27 or so.

I hate to see Greenway struggle like this since they were such a great story last season and had high expectations. Hopefully they can turn a new page as the calendar turns to 2019.

Greenway is playing a tough schedule for a reason. Their record now is not as important as the upside will be when the winter winds down. They will be ready for the postseason.
