"3.75 2003 D Jake Martin to Miami. Offensive minded D who can pass or carry the puck up ice. Excellent vision. Defensive game has shown consistent improvement as he has the body and feet to defend at a high level. Great mobility at 6' w/ a high ceiling."

DOB 3/18/03 - Wouldn't he be a sophomore?
And not to be picky but seems like the Midget AAA board would be more appropriate, this is not a Minnesota High School Hockey team or player.

A bunch of them stayed back in school. He must be another that did.blueline_6 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:48 am DOB 3/18/03 - Wouldn't he be a sophomore?

I'm not sure what class he is in so I took out the word "frosh" in the subject line. As he is a Minnesota kid committing to a D1 program, I thought it was relevant to this board.blueline_6 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:48 am DOB 3/18/03 - Wouldn't he be a sophomore?

The thing making Gentry so interesting is they have a school, they have a Varsity (MSHSL), and they have the players in the school. While they are playing a national Midget schedule this year, next...?

Two different teams. If you look at the MSHSL roster and the 15U Tier 1 roster, different kids. Martin is on the 15U team, not the MSHSL team.O-townClown wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 6:56 pm The thing making Gentry so interesting is they have a school, they have a Varsity (MSHSL), and they have the players in the school. I think maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at. My guess is since they founded the school on a Tier 1 program that will continue to be their priority. So these 15U's will be 16U's next year, with possibly a little shuffling but the main core group staying together. The MSHSL team will be there as an option for those that don't make the Tier 1 rosters or maybe don't want the expense of Tier 1 hockey, or if they have an age class that doesn't have the depth/numbers to support a Tier 1 team. All just assumption on my part, what will really interest me is if they will be able to support both programs over the long haul.blueline_6 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 6:17 amTwo different teams. My guess is they'll support the program until Chaz and Cruz graduate then consolidate.blueline_6 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:24 amAll just assumption on my part, what will really interest me is if they will be able to support both programs over the long haul.

Blueline, they have a Varsity. Strong players are in the school. A lot of speculation as to what they'll do next season, but I haven't heard anything conclusive.
The team is VERY VERY good and will continue to win games no matter what level.

With a record of 3-5 I don't know that I would say their Varsity team is VERY VERY GOOD.O-townClown wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:57 pm Blueline, they have a Varsity. Strong players are in the school. A lot of speculation as to what they'll do next season, but I haven't heard anything conclusive.
