Please don't let the Mayo Clinic study on checking in bantams sway MN Hockey's decision on checking in bantams. This would only move the issues down the road to HS. If the thought was that eliminating checking from peewees was partly due to differing size of kids you would have the same issue if the it was moved to HS where you have some kids who are 5'4 going against a 6'5 senior at the jv level. Can you imagine a small freshman or sophomore being put in this position without ever having been exposed to checking?

It would be nice to see some of the coaches and registration fees being used to set up bantam checking clinics that are mandatory to play at the bantam level (at a reasonable fee) vs just passing it on for the HS's or JG to deal with.

It's great that you put this info out on this forum for all of us to see, I appreciate it. Just want to make that clear before I complain. :P

If MN Hockey wants it's members to come to meetings to voice opinions/concerns on topics of significance, why don't they email blast their membership to let them know when "big" decisions are going to be made. We're required to provide our contact info when we register, and MN Hockey has no problem using that info to send emails. Why not use it to communicate meeting info? Or does MN Hockey hide behind "we post the meeting info on our website for all to see." Because if that's the case then guess what, I can also go to the website to find the articles on "Tips for Road Trip Tourneys" or "Scott Sandelin on Values, Culture and Character" or "6 Bad Youth Hockey Habits" - so why email blast that stuff if they aren't going to email blast meeting announcements and agendas?

For example, MN Hockey could have emailed this proposal document to it's members:

You are right.
They should.
I will put this on the district director agenda.

Sent email to add it to the district director private meeting agenda.
We will see what happens there.

In a related thread on the HS board elliott mentioned that it did not pass but that it may come back up in a future meeting.
