IRC JAMBOREE

Post by gr19 » Fri Nov 11, 2005 11:07 am

Who's going? What's the schedule for it? I hope GR is playing Virginia. They have to be the top 2 teams in the conference. The maybe Hibbing and Eveleth being 3 and 4. Then I Falls and Greenway being 5 and 6. Thoughts?

Did Bemidji weight lift at Pete Moen's in Nebish this offseason like they were supposed to? I worked out there when I was there in Minny last Feb. If they did work out there and stuck with it they will be the hardest hitting team in the state and I wouldn't start any fights with em unless you wanna be in a coma.

Nobody has any information on either the Lake Superior Conference Jamboree or the Iron Range Conference Jamboree? They're both only 4 days away!

Geez only 6 teams in the IRC jamboree.....that isn't a very good turnout. I wish, whoever is in charge of it, would let the teams go for at least a full hour or more. Would help out the coaches in making decisions.
www.rebelhockey.com

There are only 6 teams left in the IRC, that is why there are only 6 teams in the event. When Chisholm/Cook had a team, there were seven, so they had to invite a non-conference team (usually Ely) to round out the field. Before that, Mesabi East had their own team, which made the eight.

I agree, with only 3 games, they should expand to two full periods or two 25 or 30 minute running time periods. They have the entire evening to fit in the 3 games. As it stands now, they're going to fill less than 3 hours, which isn't much longer than a regular game, with 3 of these mini-games. It definitely could use some tweaking.

Jamboree game duration

Post by Puckhaug » Mon Nov 21, 2005 7:09 pm

Minnesota High School League rule limits the duration of Jamboree games to less than 1/2 the time of a regular season game. If longer it would count toward the teams 25 game limit. Currently (and at least the last 25 years) the IRC jamboree consists of 2 - 11 minute periods for each scrimmage. The periods could be as log as 12 1/2 minute but no longer.

correction Proctor 2 Central 1. I didn't get a chance to watch Hermantown what was the story? I thought with marshall and all the hype they would have played better. Good job Hawks.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eyes100 at: 11/22/05 9:31 am

Looks like scores one would expect in this jamboree. Not surprised to see CEC get a shutout.

I predict Hibbing, Virginia, and Grand Rapids all win big. I think GR/EV would be the closest of the games possibly. Hibbing should route Greenway. Virginia should route I Falls.

It's a 20 min. or so scimmage. They play like a half a game in total - it is meaningless. I feel bad for ER being forced back into 7AA again. They deserve better.

The other two scores:
Virginia 2, International Falls 1
Hibbing 3, Greenway 0

All 3 games were pretty one-sided. Virginia, Hibbing, and Grand Rapids all averaged nearly a shot on goal per minute or better.

Hibbing outshot Greenway 23-5 and played most of the game in the Greenway end. Greenway only had one or two legitimate scoring chances.

The score of the Virginia/I-Falls game really wasn't indicative of what happened on the ice. Virginia put 25 shots on goal in 22 minutes, a majority of them from between the face off dots or closer. All 3 goaltenders for I-Falls made some very nice saves. Virginia got sloppy in their own end a few times which allowed IFalls to get a few shots on goal (15), most of them weren't high quality though. Virginia scored the winner with 20 seconds left in the contest on the power play.

Grand Rapids pretty much dominated Eveleth as well. Eveleth had a few spurts, but never really mounted any kind of sustained pressure. GR scored with 35 seconds left in the first and then pumped in 3 in a 1:28 span early in the second.

There's more details on the section7hockey.com website under the news link.
