Coaches are kind of screwed, there was no way you could legitimately vote Hastings not #1, yet logic would make them them the #3 or#4 seed. In this way district scheduling like football does is an advantage.

Congrats to PageStat, it has shown a superior predictor to the coaches, but it raises the age old question of how we value the regular season.
Thanks, Goldy. I understand the problem coaches of certain sections face--conference schedules can screw up the equity of who teams face during the regular season. 1AA was a perfect example of that and maybe it created an "opportunity" for a computerized system such as PageStat to take advantage of these situations. The advantage PageStat had in 7AA was that the coaches had no part in seeding--they chose to rely on a system (QRF) which they didn't understand. PageStat, at least this year, was better.

The question of how to value the regular season is a good one. How much to weigh a team's W/L record? How much weight do we assign a team's schedule? Both questions are open to a whole ton of differences in interpretation. That may be the biggest advantage of PageStat. The numbers are what the numbers are. Even in determining the few variables which PageStat employs, these are driven by the answer to the question of how it affects the system's accuracy in predicting section games. The disadvantage of PageStat, of course, is that it can't take into account such things are injuries to players which can affect teams' performances.

Oh well. Who knows, maybe PageStat will get taken to the woodshed by the seedings next year. Nothing is perfect.
