EGF will have to play very physical and take advantage of their scoring opportunities in this one. If SCC has a weakness it might be a goalie that hasn't been challenged very much during the year. Not saying he isn't good, but when your team is in the offensive zone most of the time most games you maybe haven't been tested like other goalies have.

Crusaders up 2-0, great snipe by Smith following turnover. Great deflection out front by Cumming following wrister from point

Ausmus scores on PP, great short side snipe from
left middle lane . Kid is and is going to be unbelievable, plays 2 years older !

Hiltner scores on another great redirect from point in front of the net. 3-1 late in first
Wave got to do better keeping Crus out of low slot

Wave missed great oppo on a rare 2 on 1 with 11 to go in 2nd

Wave start PP. Another Crus penalty 5 on 3 fir a minute. Crus PK gets job done

Jack Smith gets his second , After tremendous pressure by Crusaders right in front of the net for sustained 30 or 40 seconds

Cole Avery gets EGF shorty after turnover by crusaders on PP breakout 2 left in 2nd , 4-2

He has had several aggressive plays in this game, which is fine , whistle hadn’t blown in this case . Suppose they could have called unsportsmanlike or goalie interference , but probly a good no call

3rd period underway, Crusaders controlling the action. Somebody forgot to tell Nate Warner he is only at 75% medically, looking forward to seeing him next year at 100% after surgery and rehab, definitely will be Mr. Hockey finalist.

Wraparound by Savoie, caught goalie off the post, 5-2

Wave need Mack and Parker to step up to get back in game, although Crusaders stopping every Wave breakout in neutral zone or at blue line

Parker must have heard me, just missed on eyepopping move and shot. Warner responded but missed at other end also.

Jack Smith just misses his third , on a shorty.

Question for TTPuckster or other knowledgeable Wave Fan: Ausmus is an 04, but has he even turned 15 yet?

Both teams should be section favorites next year with loads of returning talent. SCC likely preseason Class A favorite, even if both Biondi and Pierce return for the Hawks.

Congrats to the new STA.
EGF didn't make it much of a game for a semi-final...

Seriously? Whatever you may think of private schools being in Class A, SCC has never won a championship, and this is their first appearance in the final. They have one third place finish out of seven trips to state. It isn’t like the St. Cloud area is stocked with juggernaut youth programs, and this team is more the result of a special few classes, much like EGF had a while back. I certainly could turn out to be wrong, but I don’t see Cathedral becoming an unstoppable force that will have everyone clamoring for them to opt up.

We could use another non-metro area team in 8AA.
Drop Buffalo or Rogers.

They'd be the favorites in 8AA next year I bet. I wouldn't mind if they opted up.

Maybe. Moorhead drubbed Cathedral 5-2 in late January, and they also lost to Holy Family in their only other AA game.

Cathedral should do the right thing and opt up. They pull students from a 200k person population. The combined population north branch, egf and colersine is like 20k people! There are only a handful for private schools in class A left...Breck and Blake. Do the right thing CHS and opt up. Hermantown and their open enrollment should do the same. If Roseau can play AA with 2600 people I would hope CHS had the confidence to compete in section 8AA.

Relax all.
I am a Green Wave fan all the way.
But SCC just had a better team this year.
EGF came out of the gate this season looking mostly unbeatable but they seemed to change their intensity after the January 1st.
Elliott, when we saw them at Bemidji in December, they were running a very intense forecheck, right?

But that is another story.

EGF and SCC started a scheduling each other starting in the 2012/2013 season.
Here are the scores and venues since then:

2012/2013: EGF 4 - 0 SCC at SCC
2013/2014: EGF 3 - 1 SCC at EGF
2014/2015: EGF 6 - 2 SCC at SCC
2015/2016: EGF 4 - 3 SCC at EGF
2016/2017: EGF 4 - 4 SCC at SCC
2017/2018: EGF 5 - 1 SCC at EGF
2018/2019: EGF 2 - 7 SCC at SCC

Record EGF 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie.
Total goals scored: EGF 28, SCC 18

EGF has had the better of it in 7 games.

I am not trying to brag up EGF, (well maybe a little  )

Just pointing out that SCC is just fine where they are.
Just a very good team this year.

Now if they continue like this year for several more years well...........
What is a Green Wave anyway?
