Nice facility, growing suburb. They’ve been a doormat in the SSC for a while, but there’s some positive things you could see if you look hard enough.. wouldn’t be a bad job for a younger coach looking to make a name for themselves.

Correct. Calvin Simon was in his first year. He’s a 2006 Shakopee graduate. This is a program that has a benefited from a new ice arena with two sheets of ice, and a population explosion in the last couple decades. Eventually this program should start achieving success.

I don't think the official thread has been started, but you can put Rogers on the list.

Thanks Lee. Admittedly I was tired and didn't search the forum very hard for the post.

No problemo. It had moved down quite a bit on the page.

Much like Shakopee, Rogers could be a good opportunity, and perhaps to an even greater extent. It’s a growing exurb with a good economic base and lots of young families. Nice facilities located literally across the parking lot from the HS, with good youth participation numbers. The top Bantam and Peewee teams both are in their respective state tournaments right now (albeit at the A level), so there’s some definite prospects for improvement in the near future, assuming those groups stay together (TG recruitment, cough cough). Plus, the Royals aren’t too far removed from having some semblance of success prior to bottoming out the past few seasons.

I would think anyone considering this job would want to have a meeting with the president of the youth association. They need to play their top Peewee and Bantam teams at the AA level if they want to support the HS program. I don't think doing a "reverse Hermantown" is helping these kids prepare for AA hockey in high school.

I very much agree. Rogers played at the AA level in youth for several years, then dropped down to A after just getting pummeled in 2016-17. I know a few of their Bantams left for greener pastures after that decision was made, combined with the overall state of affairs at the high school level. Now that the talent and depth are returning, Rogers should be competing at a higher level again.

Rogers moving to the NWSC next season. Thoughts on how this will affect the program and the coaching search.

Didn’t the Vanelli’s have some kids/nephews as assistant or JV coaches? I wonder if they’ll take over?
