Stillwater and Moorhead will both likely be top 10 teams with top 5 potential this year. I tend to think WM has a decent starting point but has Blaine and Andover a bit underrated and Rosemount and Lakeville South somewhat overrated.

I had similar thoughts, Rosemount will be very good but #3 seems a little high and LVS will be very solid, but I think there are a number of teams I'd slot ahead of them including H-M and even Edina (while they will be down and may not have as much high-end star power there is still a lot of depth there).

Autocorrect glitch on Ellings

Also got PM that I forgot Wolfe for Andover . Good catch . Perhaps the best first D pair in the state?

Ran into a Bengal dad recently.. thinks they might be considerably below last season. He's concerned about goal-tending (0 starts going into Sr year.), says he heard they are trying out forwards to play D as they are so weak on back side, and thinks loss of Brodzinski puts to much pressure on Richels, and like every season he's "the Man", he gets run down by season end as not enough support. He doesn't know if they can sustain past the top line against other deeper opponents. Thinks they are going to have to live off PP opportunities. I am sure it's just talk, but thought it was interesting.

Hill is still pretty young but they have a ton of talent.

Anyone know if Oberle is coming back?

Nice analysis Muck! Curious if you have thoughts on the next batch 11-15 teams using your method?

WM-
I didn't select the teams, only ranked the ones that were selected.
If you can provide the next 5 I can rank them by the same method.
Edina for example had Zero for returning player as they lost their top 6 to graduation :(

Might be stemming from the 6-0 loss to Andover
At Blaine’s fundraiser tourney earlier this summer.
2 goalies played
I think one of them have up a Hattie to a mediocre Andover kid.
Richels and his line mates barley played.
BTW- Richels should be in the running for player of the year. Big fast skilled-
Blaine should be back at state if they can figure out the netminder situation

Just lurking about, as I often do in summer. Gotta save my bullets for November.

Not that I'm not giving it some thought...decent chance a podcast will appear before the end of the month which will force me to start getting things into gear.

Disagree on Maple Grove. That programs mission is to Freon excellent hockey players and get to state every year in squirt, peewee and bantams. Then FEED the great high school teams in Minnesota when those youth hockey kids get to high school.

Maple Grove has a great youth hockey program. Why not send your kid there and have them groomed for high school elsewhere. MG had better start having success in HS or they’ll continue to be seen as a feeder.
