I read this as a AA discussion too, i guess. Don't think STA makes it in that respect. Playing with the big boys now....

My Cloquet has zero. I highly doubt we will, ever. That’s ok. I’m a huge fan of the history, kids, and competing spirit of this franchise regardless of state championships/appearances.

And if you are counting STA and their A championships, then Hill can count their private school titles.

But I doubt that's the real question that was asked...

Well I'm going to tell you that the only AA teams with 5+ are Jefferson, Roseau, Eveleth, Edina, and I Falls. The only other team to win 5+ (not counting Catholic school state championships) is STA

Hill has 3 private school championships and 3 public. So 6 altogether. I'd assume that would put Cretin in the 5's too, although they only have one public, so maybe not.

I do remember from about 10 years ago that people from Roseau don't recognize Edina East's as an Edina state championship.

I don't either. You can count them when you combine schools except when you were once two schools. It does seem unfair to have two chances at a title and count those the same as the rest of the schools that had one.

Just like I've seen one or two places where WBL tries to count the Mariner 2nd place finish as a first round win...

If we include prep/Catholic/independent school championships I'm pretty sure STAA would have 7.

In terms of counting 'top class' titles I would like to see the Academy win at least 2 AA ships before lopping that bigger and older number in with the new banners.

Selfishly wish MSHSL would go to a one-class 'Sweet Sixteen' to produce a single state champion but I get why it would never happen.

We're all happy with the final true one class champion. Well most of us. I know Lee's still sore... :D  8)

Im on the other side, I count Edina East in with the Edina totals because East was the original Edina school and because they still won three titles with half the kids. I am not sure I agree with the argument that it is unfair that they have two chances when to me it seems like they diluted their talent for a decade. Imagine how many championships they would have won if they had stuck together. It obviously wasn't an option if you are aware of how the number of kids had outgrown the high school space, but if they stuck together there is a chance they would have won another title in the 70's.
If West ever won a state title I think I would have a different opinion because they were the pop up school.

I thought West did win a title. And my reasoning was that you couldn't count both. So if East became just Edina, then I'm fine with counting them. But if West won a title, you don't get to add that to the total. Not that anyone cares what I think...

No, West never won a title. They only went to the Tournament one time and that was in 1981 where they lost in the first round.

Excuse me, but Roseville youth hockey used to be pretty dominate in the 60's, 70's and 80's but by the time they got to High School, they split up between Ramsey, Kellogg, and HM. Maybe they would have won a lot of state titles if they stuck together and had a school big enough for all of them. [-X

If Edina East’s titles count towards Edina’s total, then I’m lumping the Bloomington schools together. +1 added to the total for Jefferson/Kennedy
