That is this years draft class. To be eligible you have to be born between January 1, 1986 and September 15, 1988.

For all of you HOMERS out in hockey land I think you might wanna take a hard look at this list... it really does give a insight into who the best skaters in the state are... I know some kids will move up... But I would have to agree with almost this entire list!

-The Slinger

One common trait

Post by elliott70 » Thu Nov 03, 2005 10:27 pm

I am not sure of all the guys on this roster, but the players I know something about the one common trait - size, at least height.

Also Michael Carmen Ryan Flynn and Erik Johnson are all A players for the US National Team in Ann Arbor. Flynn will be a top 25 pick and Johnson is supposed to crack the top 5. Carman could bust into the first round as well. Do you think staying in high school would of helped or hurt there draft status or do you think those 3 individuals made the right move going to ann Arbor?

Playing HS hockey, if anything, would have hurt their draft status more than it helped it. However since all of them will be going to college and not straight to the NHL (as most players do, especially the Americans) I don't think their chances of actually making it to the NHL would be any different whether they played HS hockey or went through the Ann Arbor program as they would have 4 years (or less) to polish their skills at the college level either way.

I have read elsewhere that Flynn will probably only be in college in the range of 1-3 years and Johnson maybe only 1. I appreciate your thoughts.

Ben Hanowski is only a freshman at Little Falls but is definitely a player that has amazing potential. Great size and unbelievable stickhandling. Just another name to look at even though he comes from a small town and a "worthless" section.

Hanowski will be there in 2 years no doubt about it..he could most likely play at the same level as these kids right now.

I must say I watched the Elite League National Tournament. I have seen it every year since it started (What great hockey). I was not overly impressed with the level of talent from Minnesota this year. I was very disappointed in Medvec he is not a good skater. He has size and keeps up but I believe he needs to really improve his skating (transitioning is awkward) if he wants to move to the next level. I also spoke with one of the scouts from LA who told me he did not think the talent was as good this year as in years past. I was impressed with a kid by the name of Arrogoni (not sure of the spellling) great forechecker works really hard. Where is he from?

I wanna say he was. I have no clue, I don't pay any attention to the Elite League, but I thought I heard someone say he did very well in it.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Both were on the Red Team. Erickson as a defenseman and Peterson played with his line from the regular season of Fulton and Inderidan.

Hey PAMESH:
Medvec has already played at the next level. Check it out; he has already played three games for Sioux City and fit in just fine. No doubt he will be back there in the spring. He has talked to numerous division I schools already. Maybe you caught him on an off day, but this kid can and will make an impact in the next level.

hockey4life.
Many players go up to the next level and do fine in the begining. I don't doubt he is big enough, strong enough and can keep up to the play. But I think if he doesn't imporove his skating he is not going be an impact player. when I watched him he is very straight legged which causes him to have a difficult time transitioning from backward to forward and moving laterally going backward. As a defensemen these are huge skating skills required as the game moves to the next level. Just my observation.

If he was my kid I would have him jumping on the russian box everyday to help him develop the leg strength necessary to improve his hockey position.

I am kind of confused why central scouting would put inderieden as a 'B' Player when McKeens Hockey, which is a respected scouting site, projected him as the number 32 overall pick.

mckeenshockey.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=464269
