Little Falls 2-0 over Cathedral after 1

Now 3-3 midway through second

4-3 Cathedral after 2
Shots 25-20 SCC
Cathedral’s third goal probably should have been disallowed as being kicked in

Final: 7-3 Cathedral
Shots 44-25 SCC
Pretty much all Cathedral the last two periods

The feed was live only, so I kept missing goals. But Hill pumped in 4 in the third and it was 5-2 with about 90 seconds to go when the wife gave me the look and said dinner...

Benilde over Blake 2-1 in a great, fast-paced game. Bears clawed back to tie it and Red Knights went back on top less than 10 seconds later. It was nuts.

Saw the biggest hit I'll see all year. Absolutely smoked. Guy next to me said, "I heard it all the way down here!"

Blake won 5 straight faceoffs in the final 75 seconds with the goalie pulled to keep it very entertaining. Spotted: EP brain trust who have a date with the hungry Bears on Saturday. Is this the return of the other Blake?

Saw on Twitter that Josie Bothun did play. A great story as she's been rock solid this year.

Anyone have any observations on the game in Roseau last night? How about Blake vs Benilde?

I would have said the game was closer than the score indicated. 2-2 after two and play was pretty even through that point. Even in the third Moorhead didn't dominate play by any means. They did have the better of the play and capitalized on their chances. I would have said Moorhead deserved a one goal victory. Of course take that with a grain of salt as I am seeing that through a biased lens. Anyone else that was there can feel free to chime in if they feel that is inaccurate.

I believe both of Roseau's goals came on deflections in the second period. Spuds outshot and outscored Roseau in the first and third. I will say they won 2 out of the three periods. These two teams will most likely meet again in the section playoffs..... One goal? They won by three...

BSM and Blake showed some serious speed, physical play and grit. Coming off the HDM win and after noting BSM loss to Chaska, the Bears may have been expecting an easy 3-and--out. That wasn't the case as BSM hit high gear from first puck drop.
The first period heard only about 2-3 whistles/face-offs as there was a ton of back/forth, odd man rushes, and some pretty big hits.
I think BSM's depth wore into the Bears, who skated two lines for the most part. There was a spell of about 5 minutes in the second where Blake dominated play (and scored) and BSM answered quickly. For the most part the Red Knights ground them down in the second, and that continued until late in the third.
Penalties came into play late in the game, and the Bears made a pretty strong attempt, winning 5 O-zone faceoffs in a row in the last 1:30, though BSM held them off.
Both tenders--Limesand and Reid--made some outstanding saves.
This was a huge seeding game. Section 6AA is literally insane.

By saying they were deflections are you trying to say they were lucky or flukey? One wasn't even a deflection. It was a rebound kicked into the slot and shot low glove side into the net. #19 shot and scored. Feel free to watch the tape. The other was a shot from the point on the PP that was tipped. Generally not considered a flukey goal. If any goals were "lucky" it was Moorhead's first. But I won't go so far as to say that because as an old coach used to say "you make your own luck".

I was saying it felt closer than a three goal game (shots were 31-25 and I felt that was indicative of play). That was my feeling. If you felt that the score was more indicative of play I am okay with that. It was 5-2, Spuds went on the road and took the 1 seed. Hats off to them.

Didn’t see the original game but went and glanced at the stream. The first Spud goal was scored on a centering pass from behind the net to a Moorhead player standing all alone 15 feet out between the circles. What was lucky about that?

Excellent summary of BSM Blake game by 6AA above

I will just add...

Knights put on a display of clean contact hockey in first and second periods , imho good strategy since their own point production has been lacking and they had to slow down the Bears speedy dangerous snipers . Sarsland especially noteworthy I thought

Not a single contact related penalty in first or second if I recall right . A little chippy late in the game

I think this is how BSm is going to have to play down the stretch , and in sections except possibly against Wayzata if they draw them

I would rather say none of the goals were “lucky” as I didn’t think there were any real flukey goals in the game. The reason nobody is out front is because the Roseau player had the puck behind the net and whiffed on a pass that went right to a Moorhead player that centers it to a player that is all alone out front. I would have said that was more “flukey” than either of the Roseau goals. I’m splitting hairs and wouldn’t actually call it a lucky goal, my main point was that I didn’t think it was accurate to imply that Roseau just got a couple lucky deflections or it would have been 5-0.

From my view of the Roseau/Moorhead game, Roseau got outplayed pretty heavily in the first. Roseau mustered 6 shots in the first period and 4 of them came on a power play (which I will say was a very good PP, but couldn't score), other than that the first belonged to Moorhead. The Rams turned the tide in the second and pretty much dominated that period, tying the score. The 3rd started promising for the Rams, almost scoring on the first shift. After that first shift Roseau never got a shot on goal until around 6 minutes left in the game as Moorhead took it to us. My observation was the Rams looked tired in the third and when you are tired you tend to get sloppy. Two big games this weekend for the Rams which will either see them a 2 seed or maybe as low as 4. I wish I could sugar coat it, but that is the way I saw it.
We've got 7 yes we do, we've got 7, how about you!
