music downloads

Post by Nostalgic Nerd »

Free and legal. They are all on my blog and come from legitimate places like Epitonic, Barsuk Records, Insound, etc. You can find them on the side bar along with the archives.

worldofpop.blogspot.com
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

This is "The" link in legal downloads. Plenty of stuff. Another thing is it may seem obvious, but if you are at a labels website and they have downloads, then that would be legitimate too. Or a bands website you know of. It can all have its different trickiness, which is why I tend towards the more obvious places.

<a href="http://www.goingware.com/tips/legal-dow ...
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

Certainly isn't going to be for everyone, but I've added a clip of Nada Surf's "Blizzard of '77". I personally haven't heard a hook that addicting in some time along with Blonde On Blonde.
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

Oh my gosh! I'm like a kid squirming. The classic Nada Surf video "Popular" is up. I'm still giggling.
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

Here are some downloads for one of the Twin Cities more popular bands, the Hopefuls:

<a href="http://www.myspace.com/thehopefulsmusic ...

I'd recommend starting with "Let's Go". They're even better live.

It does work well, just doesn't really fit into the whole "legal" part.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Most of the music I've got comes off of shared tunes in itunes. A hub connects my whole dorm and I just nab their music.
Taylor Mattson-The Next Non-Mr. Hockey

They never do, do they? Since 2000, I've gone from Napster to Morpheus to Kazaa Lite to WinMx to Limewire. My favorite was WinMx, although I've been able to find some obscure "almost top 40" songs on Limewire which I never could find in WinMx. The only beef I have with Limewire is when I type in a specific song and group and I get crap not even close to that. I suppose that's true with any program, however.

Right now, this is what I have:

w ...

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005
Egomaniac since 2006

When I first saw other people's libraries, I tried to nab songs, but nothing worked. I thought that's what 'copy' meant, since it seemingly serves no other purpose.

ERE, I got your email on the Pro version and am checking it out. At under $20, it looks like a safe risk for me to take.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005
Egomaniac since 2006

How to get music legally

Post by NumberCruncher »

Alright listen up, I've done Napster, Kazaa, and Limewire. All worked well until Napster ran out of new songs becuase they got shut down, Kazaa put a virus on my computer, and well i just gave up on limewire becuase i have a new method.

GO TO THE LIBRARY!

You'd be surprised on how many newer CD's they have. And if it's an important CD they usually preorder it so it's there when you want it. Now when you "check out" this cd, go home and put it in and copy it to something like Windows Media Player or even iTunes. It's now stored in your library and then could go on your iPod.

Still not enough music?

If you know people with songs stored on their computers that you like, you are able to send songs via attachments on emails, or even over AIM.

If there are any other legal ways of obtaining music without paying for it let me know

NumberCruncher, loading the library's CDs onto your computer isn't technically legal.

NostalgicNerd, check out this site:
<a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ...

Full concerts from just about every 'it' band right now, Arctic Monkeys, Bell & Sebastian, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, et al. I don't think you can download them as they are, but there might be ways to get them loaded onto your computer.
