Do you have a roster?

So do you have the roster? Any woodbury kids make it?
I think Sk8r overstates it a bit. This group of kids was very deep. It had to be difficult to pair it down to 20 in two days. Sure, there are easily other skaters who could have made the team but none of the picks was "wrong". It's a talented group.

partial list: (excuse misspellings)

G - Kautz - Rochester

Cooper- Don't misinterpret what I said. I said there wasn't a single kid that stood out in this group. They got a few right, they got a few wrong.
Never once did I say this wasn't a talented group of kids. It happens every year. There are several kids that don't make the team that are more talented than some of those that did, and they have proved it all season long. You just can't encapsulate this in a 2 day tryout. In this respect, I stand by what I said. They got a few right, they got a few wrong.

Here's a more complete District 8 roster:

Here is the District 8 Advanced 15 roster:

4 - Heller
5 - Skeij
6 - ???
7 - Brandon Kautz
10 - Krecke
12 - Lindbergh
18 - Vessel
19 - Jacobs
22 - Nick Kuchera
23 - Merchant
27 - Beckers
29 - Sattler
30 - McFadden
31 - Chuinard
32 - O'borsky
34 - Arseutz
35 - Osterberg
44 - Nitti
48 - Brock Kautz
49 - Erickson

Chuinard is a newbie to the District 8 scene. He's a transplant from Santa Rosa, CA, but spent his formative years in Ramsey skating for Anoka and the Fire before his dad was transferred to California. He has great hands and has finally sprouted up. No, he's not my kid or relative.

Easy - I didn't say that you said anyone wasn't talented. I stand by what I said also. We agree! "It is what it is".

Seeding for Festival

Post by basketballguy »

Can someone explain to me how the seeding works for the Fesitval, it seems odd to me that District 6 and District 8 would be playing a game on Friday night to determine seeding. Most people are aware the deepest districts in the state would consist of 6,8,2,and 3. Why would they play each other before the festival? How does it work?

Good plug from a non parent/relative. The kid played on Shattuck's Bantam A (not Tier I) team this winter, but lives in Lakeville. Saw him play a few times, but wasn't impressed. Didn't like to pass or hit...

I thought that Osterburg from Lakeville South is a 95 player. I was under the impression that this tourney was for 94 birth year skaters?

First of all District 8 has a good crop this year most years they are not that strong. District 3, 10, and 6 have dominated this festival since day 1.

Secondly everyone plays in a pool of 3 to separate the top 8 from the bottom 4. So District 6 and 8 probably will make the good tournament.

6,8, and 4
11, 10, and 5
12,15, and 16
3, 2, and 1

so typically it is 6, 8, 11, 10, 15, 16, 3, 2

I believe every District plays two seeding games. The ones that win twice will be in bracket play with the top 8 District teams. The Districts that lose twice will be in the round robin tourney of the Districts that didn't win a seeding game. The teams that go 1-1 are placed in one or the other by some criteria.

The 3 teams in each Division after playing their games are ranked by the standings based on the win,tie and loss results. For example in the North the team with the best record will be N1, the second best record will be N2 the number 3 team will be N3. The top 2 teams in each Division will play in the bracketed tournament and all 3rd place teams will play in a round robin tournament all teams play 3 games. The brackets should be posted on the Mn Hockey web site. I have seen teams go 0 and 3 and still send 12 players on to the next level.

No real stand outs. Jake Horton left at the begining of the second with an injury and left the arena in a sling.
