I'm assuming all teams played 3 games... I'm curious what the breakdown was of the other Canadian games? (who did they play and what were the scores?)UNDlars wrote:Onalaska tourney:

Wow... it's sounds like the RAVE played well against them. Not sure if any of the readers of this site realize just how tough it is to keep a Canadian Midget team to only 2 goals. I'm not ripping on MN players at all - in fact MN creates some of the best young recruits in the U.S.. It's just different up there. Speaking as a former player - staying with or, every once in awhile, beating a Canadian team was quite a feat.UNDlars wrote:Sun Prairie, WI 10-0MNHockeyStats wrote:I'm assuming all teams played 3 games... Congrats to the RAVE.
Just out of curiosity... did any RAVE players have any breakaways or 2 on 1s where players got pulled down in the slot by Canadian D and no penalty was called?
No, there weren't any situations like you mentioned. It was a very physical and intense game but no real cheap shots or take downs.MNHockeyStats wrote:UNDlars wrote:Sun Prairie, WI 10-0MNHockeyStats wrote: I'm assuming all teams played 3 games... This is going to sound like I'm generalizing... But the reason I asked if any players where pulled down in the slot is that Canadian teams are pretty smart about hooking & tripping out of the line of sight of the refs. They can backcheck and make it look like they're playing the body but they have some stick work going on, as well.
sounds like they played a clean game.
They had to have at least done some trash talking... I've never met a Canadian defenseman that kept his mouth shut. hahaha

I will have to say, the team from Winnipeg was impressive. My team was thumped 15-0, but the way they moved the puck and set up the plays during their three games it was actually really fun to watch. They were a good group of kids and weren't cocky, they just showed up to play the game and it was pure hockey at it's best!
Some of us stuck around for the Championship game and we thought RAVE was impressive against them as well. They gave Winnipeg a good run for their money, (which I'm sure Winnipeg enjoyed after two blow outs). Kudos to the RAVE goalie and the whole team for keeping it close.
