As we did with the PWs, we did with the Bantams. Predictions, Sleepers and some fun commentary on both the A's and B's.

District 6 Playoff Scores
Chaska 5
Jefferson 2
Minnetonka 8
Shakopee 1
Chaska now plays Minnetonka for the right to play Edina 4 vs Wildcard game, in a matchup which really is the most critical in the district. Considering Minnetonka has swept the series 2-0 and outscored Chaska 10-1, I would think the Skippers are prohibitive favorites going in.
The Winner of that game will advance to play Burnsville andif they lose there, can do no worse than a matchup with 5th seed New Prague for a dance ticket to Regions.
However, the loser of the Minnetonka/Edina game must then face either Prior Lake or Eden Prairie (assuming EP beats NP in the 3-5 game). The loser of that game Tonka/Edina vs EP/Prior Lake - is out.
Consider the following records of those 4 teams against each other;
Prior Lake 4-0-2
Edina 3-2-3
Eden Prairie 2-3-1
Minnetonka 1-5 (sole win coming against Edina just recently)
No disrespect intended to a very talented and somewhat surprising New Prague squad, but the combined record for New Prague against the other top 5 seeds was 0-5. Consider also, that their schedule was relatively light, only having to play Prior Lake, Minnetonka, Burnsville, Edina and Eden Prairie once each. I would think they find themselves skating uphill in a draw that pits them against Eden Prairie first and then potentially the loser between Burnsville and Edina.
I like Burnsville, Edina, Prior Lake and Eden Prairie advancing from District 6. The actual seeding won't really matter, as these 4 teams should all easily win their first game at regions and setup a South Regional Final 4, with 2 of these 4 eventually advancing to the State Toournament.
Good Luck to all the teams and players!

District 3 Playoffs
St. Louis Park 3
Mound 0
Wayzata 16
St. Louis Park 0
Orono 4
Hopkins 3
OMG 9
Armstrong 1
Not much drama in ditrict 3 as the big favorites won early as expected and seem to be destined for a championship showdown with each other on Wednesday.
Minneapolis is the dark horse here who coupld upset the applecart, as they have played both OMG and Wayzata close this year in all 4 games and even pulled out a tie with each team. Still, three seeds come out of this region, making a wide path for both OMG and Wayzata with some margin for error.
Crow River, Orono and Hopkins have all showed some fight through the season at times, but judging from the early returns, the big teams are ready to play.
Wayzata, OMG and Minnespolis *should* emerge. Seeding is very important in district 3 however, as the 1 seed gets a somewhat softer landing in regions, as both other #1 seeds from District 8 and Didtrict 2 are in the bottom half of the Region bracket along with the District 3 number #2 seed.
Additionally, both Wayzata and OMG have lost to WBL this season, so the prospect of meeting the likely District 2 seed prior to the Regional Championship game is an additional risk both clubs might prefer to avoid.
So unlike District 6, seeding in District 3 could be very pivotal in the Regional Tournament and considering 4 of the 5 meetings between these teams have come down to the wire, the potential Wednesday night Championship Game between the Trojans and Crimson (careful ... don't count out Minneapolis) should be the best ticket in town.

District 10 Playoffs
Champlin Park 7
Cambridge 0
Rogers 6
Princeton 2
Centennial 3
Coon Rapids 2 (5OT)
Anoka 5
Chisago Lakes 1
Elk River 5
Mora 1
Blaine 4
Rogers 0
Centennial 7
Spring Lake Park 0
Andover 6
Champlin Park 3
Elk River 4
Anoka 2
This has boiled down to a fantastic Final 4 on the "A" side of the bracket wiith the following matchups pending for sunday;
- Blaine vs Centennial
- Andover vs Elk River
Consider the teams record against each other;
Blaine 5-2
Andover 3-2-1
Elk River 4-3
Centennial 0-5-1
You have to consider Blaine a prohibitive favorite, not only because they have the best record amongst the group, but also because they draw Centennial on Sunday with the winner advancing to the tital game. The Bengals have outscored Centennial 11-5 in the 2 games, so, certainly some room for hope for the Cougars, but Blaine has the inside track on one of District 10's 2 regional seeds.
The second seed is a little more murky, as Elk River and Andover have split 2 meetings this season, with the Elk River win coming in OT. Consider also the Huskies are playing their bes hockey of the season right now snd just came off a big win over Prior Lake before the Districts started.
There could always be a surprise from the "B" side of the bracket, but I would think the favorites to emerge from District 10 are Blaine and Andover respectively.
Should be some good hockey at the Forum on Sunday! Best of luck to all the players and teams!

District 2 Playoffs
At the outset of the season I would have pegged Stillwater as the favorite in District 2, but they look to have their hands full now chasing one of only 2 available District 2 seeds.
The fairly HEAVY favorite to win the district is WBL. The Bears have put together a really fantastic season and are to be commended for their toughness and character all year long. They have been very fun to watch. There is no quit in them. They are very well coached. They have tremendous team work ethic.
The first stiff test for the Bears comes on Tuesda, likely against the Ponies (who must first get past tartan). The Bears have handled Stillwater relatively easily, outscoring them a combined 11-4 in 2 meetings this season and should be 2-3 goal favorites again on Tuesday.
Roseville has a bit of a softer draw on their side of the bracket, and they did run the table - a perfect 12-0 against D2 teams without a Bear on their jersey.
So, barring a major upset, D2 should ice a Championship Game pitting the Bears of White Bear Lake against the Roseville Raiders.
WBL won all 3 games in this series this season, BUT two of the 3 games, including the most recent, were settled by a single goal. If the season series is any indication, the Championship Game next Saturday should be a real dandy.
Regardles which team wins, the loser should be a 2 goal favorite in the "B" side final for the Ditricts 2nd seed.
My picks for this Region are WBL #1 and Roseville #2.
The most significant part of the seeding here is that the #2 seed gets District 3's #1 seed in the Regional Tournament, while the #1 seed is in a bracket withj D8's #1 and D3's #2. So, pick your poison.
In any event, WBL has every reasn to feel confident, not just in their District Tournament, but looking ahead to regions as well, with a strong bid for a State Tounrnament appearance ... and maybe more

Brainder 6

Detroit Lakes 5
Little Falls 0
Fergus Falls 3
Little Falls 1
Moorhead 5
Brainerd 0
Detroit Lakes 3
Alexandria 2
Brainderd 6
Fergus Falls 0
So Moorhead and Detroit lakes are already through to regions. All that's remaining is for them to play for the Championship on Sunday with the winner wrapping up #1 and the loser taking the #2 seed.
For the final seed, Brainderd and Alexandria play on Sunday as well.
In a no-brainer - Moorhead #1, Detroit Lakes #2 and Alexandria #3 (based on their season sweep of Brainerd, outscoring them 13-4)
Additionally, Moorhead should be an easy winner at regions and I would be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts we'll see the Spuds in the State Tournament.

Roseau 3

Bemidji 2
Crookston 1
EGF 8
Roseau 3
Bemidji 5
Warroad 3
Roseau 4
Crookston 3
TRF 3
Warroad 1
So EGF will play Bemidji at 9AM Sunday morning, with the winner wrapping up theDistrict Championship and the #1 seed. For sure EGF is a small favorite, but this game is no gimme. These teams battled well this season, though EGF swept a close series 5-4 snd 4-1.
If EGF does win they wrap up the #1 seed and Bemidji falls to the "B" side championship where they wil;l compete with the best of the rest for the #2 seed.
Roseau and TRF are vying for the right to fight for that second seed - both teams who have given Bemidji trouble. In fact, TRF is 2-0 against Bemidji , while Roseau is 0-3 but lost a pair of 1 goal games.
I'll go out on a limb and call it EGF #1 and TRF #2.

Hibbing 4
E/G-Mesabi 4
Grand Rapis 8

Hibbing is set to play Grand Rapids for the District Championship and #1 seed on Sunday, (loser is #2), while Greenway will face E/G-Mesabi for the #3 seed.
The Thunderhawks have had their way with Hibbing this season, sweeping the season series 3-0 and winning handily by a combined score of 17-8, although the first meeting was close.
Meanwhile, Eveleth and Greenway have played a VERY close series of 1-goal games with Eveleth holding the edge.
I'll call it Grand Rapids #1. Hibbing #2. Eveleth-Gilbert/Mesabi East #3

District 8 Playoffs
To me, District 8 is the Cadilac of District Playoffs this season.
It's just a wonderfully competitive district with no clear path for any of it's wildly talented teams.
You would think that Sibley, Farmington, Eagan and Lakeville South should emerge from the play-in games, but that's just when the fun begins.
After that, have a look at these potential first round matchups;
- Rosemount (12-2-2)
- Sibley (6-8-2)
The team from Sibley Area has gotten a lot of attention this season, ranked in the top 10 teams in the state for the better part of the season, curently ranked #13 andcompiling an overall 25-23-3 record playing a difficult schedule which included most of the premium teams in the state. However, in their own district they have struggled to just 6 wins through 16 games. On the bright side, their record against Rosemount is 2-1-1 on the season, however, this very young team has struggled down the stretch, scoring just 5 goals combined in their last 6 games, including a 6-1 loss to Rosemount and a 1-1 tie with them. Meanwhile, the Irish have cooled since their hot start, but have not lost in their last 5 outings and currently rank 9th overall in the State with a very solid 40-16-4 ledger. You have to give the edge here to ROSEMOUNT
- Lakeville North (12-2-2)
- Farmington (8-6-2)
These teams are mirror images of one another. Big, strong, physical teams with stifling defense. Farmington holds the better record, yet is winless through 2 games against Lakeville North this season (0-4, 7-7). That said, the Tigers are a team who rise to the occasion, with big wins over Burnsville, Prior Lake, Sibley, TRF, Pembina Valley, ties with Minnetonka, Rosemount, WBL and a narrow 2-3 loss to Wayzata, Farmington has shown the ability to hang with anyone. Meanwhile, the biggest non-district resuls for Lakeville North is a 6-5 win over Andover and a 2-2 tie with Edina. In this pressure cooker scenario, I'll go with FARMINGTON
- Eastview (12-3-1)
- Eagan (6-8-2)
Another very hotly contested series, but Eastview has held a narrow edge, with a 2-0-1 ledger and outscoring eagan a combined 10-6. Add in a spectacular goaltender and I'll take EASTVIEW
- Woodbury (13-1-2)
- Lakeville South (9-7-0)
Lakeville has outscored the Predators 8-6 through 2 meetings this seasons and they have the goaltending to pull upsets. In fact, Lakeville handed Woodbury their only district loss of the season, so the Preds are probably as happy to see Lakeville as Rosemount is to see Sibley. Gun to my head I'll go with the the Lakeville goalie in a mild upset and the win for LAKEVILLE.
Having written all that, those picks could easily go 0-4, as this District is really as it should be - up for grabs. If Woodbury does survive the Lakeville South game, they would have to be favored to go the distance, considering they are 13-1-2 in district play, but it would be vvery marginal at best, as teams like Sibley, with a 6-8-2 ledger could just as easy win the whole thing.
If you go strictly statistically your seeds would be #1 Woodbury , #2 Rosemount and #3 Sibley, coming all the way through the back door. However, big game goalies in Eastview and Lakeville South, as well as a team that rises to the challenge like Farmington make this District total chaos. i LOVE it!
Whichever 3 teams emerge from this free-for-all, things get no easier at regions. These teams arelikely lumped in with Wazyata, OMG in the East region. Consider the record of those 2 teams against District 8 teams;
Wazyata 6-0 vs D8, 20 GF, 7GA
OMG 10-0 vs D8, 55GF, 17GA
If they manage to avoid eithe of those teams in regions, there is still likely WBL and Roseville to deal with.
Now then - if all that wasn't tough enough. Any district 8 team who is fortunate enough to run the gammit in the D8 district playoffs and survive regions, gets a first round matchup with a D6 team in round 1 of the State Tournament. There is just no soft spot for any D8 team from start to finish.
So if you are gearing up for the D8 playoffs, buckle your seat belt and hang on for a fantastic ride of extremely competitive hockey! Enjoy!

I wouldn't overlook Brainerd. They have had a couple of their best players out for a big part of the year plus the tournament is in Brainerd as well.scorekeeper wrote: In a no-brainer - Moorhead #1, Detroit Lakes #2 and Alexandria #3 (based on their season sweep of Brainerd, outscoring them 13-4).

Lakeville S beat Woodbury in the Bloomington tourney. Woodbury won the only district game against them 3-2 I believe. Woodbury's district loss was vs Eastview.
You're right though, district playoffs will be interesting.

Thanks for the clarification. Re: District 10 Playoffs

Consider the teams record against each other;
Blaine 5-2
Andover 3-2-1
Elk River 4-3
Centennial 0-5-1
Elk River 2
So D10 Championship Game is set;
Centennial
Andover
Meanwhile, the 2nd seed is up for grabs in a backyard brawl with Rogers facing Elk River and Blaine awaiting the winner of Champlin Park and Anoka. The 2 victors, likely Blaine and Elk River, will slug it out for a chance to play the District runner up for the final seed next weekend. At least one good team will see it's season end in 7 days ...

Farmington 6

Eagan 8
Cottage Grove 1
