Cloquet outworks most teams they play. They will be competetive and as always it will be Cloquet, Duluth East, and Grand Rapids vying for a State Tournament berth. I will say I did enjoy watching Brainerd this season as well.

I think that C-E-C will do fine, yes they lost Ellingson but Baker will do just fine, he is a solid goaltender.

Even though Cloquet lost many quility players (Johnson, Ellingson, ect.) I think they will still be competitive next year. They have some decent young talent on their squad and could surprise many people next year.

Cloquet

Cloquet will be the team to beat next year in the section. They will have the best D in the state with all but one of them returning from last years stellar squad. I think if Baker steps it up in net and if they can find some forwards to pound some goals home then they have a very good chance at making a run at the state tourny next year.

CEC 08

Post by BigWorm » Thu Jun 14, 2007 4:30 pm

CEC will be loaded on defense with Brown, Hatch, D.Anderson, and Jake Rychlak returning from last years squad. Brown and Hatch will be top defenseman in Northern MN. Up front, CEC will return Justin Jokinen (who led the section in points last year) they also have solid returners like Boleman, Roy, Dunaisky, Godbout, and Ermatinger. Aaron Baker has some big shoes to fill, but I believe he will be a top goaltender in the area, with Cloquet's style of play, most goalie's should be able to put up good stats. I think cloquet will suprise a lot of people next year.

From what I've seen so far... Jokinen, Boleman, Dunaisky, Roy, Ermatinger, Godbout & Baker should be the top forwards.
Hatch, Brown, Ellison, Rychlak & Anderson look to be the D.

Anyone close to this team know who will provide some scoring punch, outside of Jokinen? I am guessing their defense will not be in question, how about their goaltending? Ellingson leaves some huge shoes to fill, but the Jacks always seem to have a stockpile of good netminders. Anyone have any insight on this years squad?

With 11 returning seniors, skating wise they will be fine... The big question will be goaltending. Which one of the three (Baker, Dunaisky or Thompson) will step it up this year. If that happens, watch out!!!

saw these guys over the summer and think they will do just fine...they are big and physical and will find some scorers...they will end in the top ten without a doubt...

I think they'll surprise some. Last year was "their year", but in most cases I've sen, the actual year is the year after most thought it was their year. If you can keep up with that, raise your hand. And you won't be surprised.

Is the McFarlane you're referring to former coach Tom McFarlane's kid?

That has to be a nice feeling for Tom to see his kid dawn the Jacks uniform. Good for them, they're a great family.

look out for Junior sensations Colton Roy & Blake Abrahamson, they are primed for a break-out year!

Did you get a chance to see him play at all?

Yes... Different style from Victor last year. More of a grinder with really good speed. Not afraid to use the body either.
