Boblee, How can you like this list? Two from Brainerd. None from Rapids.

Grand Rapids has no legitimate Mr. Hockey candidate this year. Maybe if Robb Roy or Corey Kosak have a great year they could progress into a candidate. The two fellas from Brainerd are good hockey players. Hockey is a team game though, so it really isn't a big deal.

After looking at "The List", it seems to me that this year has a lack of talent in the senior pool.
This age group used to have so many good players but then the big bad USHL came and took them all away.

I disagree, yes some of the top talent has moved on, but i still feel that this class has a lot of great players comparitivly to other years. Next year there won't be nearly as many talented Seniors. Some really good 90 birth years but not much after that.

There are 40+ juniors on the Elite 1 roster that may disagree with you on your assesment of next year's seniors.

I say Joe Gleason from Edina takes Mr. Hockey this year. I'll say 100% sure he will win it.

let's tighten the list:

Barnes - top scorer for a top team
O'Neill - same as above
Youso - could put of huge numbers against their competition
Gardiner - Big time defensemen that will rack up points

My preseason pick: Gardiner

Didn't your mamma raise you properly?! If you don't have something "nice" to say--or at least worthwhile or meaningful in some way--don't say anything.

Central Scouting Preliminary Rankings

Because pro scouts have a large say in choosing Mr. Hockey, I've bolded and colored the candidates that were given a rating of "A" by Central Scouting. I've just bolded the players that were rated as "B". Bohrer, and Mueller were rated a "C".

F - Tyler Barnes - Burnsville (Wisconsin recruit)
F - Ryan Bohrer - Cretin
D - Corey Feinhage - Eastview (North Dakota recruit)
F - Joe Frazer - Brainerd (Nebraska-Omaha recruit)
D - Jake Gardiner - Minnetonka (Wisconsin recruit)
D - Joe Gleason - Edina (UND recruit)
F - Jake Hendrickson - Burnsville (Duluth recruit)
F - Jake Johnson - Duluth Denfield
F - Justin Jokinen - Cloquet/Esko/Carlton
F - Nick Nagel - Totino-Grace
F - Zach Lehrke - Park Rapids
F - Adam Mueller - Roseville (Mankato recruit)
F - Ben Nelson - Roseau
D - Drew Olson - Brainerd
F - John O'Neill - Anoka (Duluth recruit)
F - Bryce Ravndalen - Warroad (St. Cloud State recruit)
D - Chris Student - Benilde (Northeastern recruit)
F - Cory Thorson - Armstrong
F - Jake Youso - International Falls (Minnesota recruit)

Place your bets!!

Since you guys have some of the committments up there I figured it was worth mentioning that Tyler Barnes is a Wisconsin recruit, another exciting Minnesotan that I cant wait to see dawn the ol' badger sweater

What about Corey Thorson from Armstrong, He's a Senior who i think is pretty talented, he may be overlooked because he's on a terrible team but if he could carry his teams to say a section final, put up big numbers, and have a KEY game (on FSN perhaps) upsetting Edina who they play twice, he could really be a candidate. He will carry his team, how far he carries them will determine his fate.

You may be correct. Also, sometimes it's better to be the absolute best on a lesser talented team. Stay tuned.

Armstrong on FSN..............don't think so.

Will Aaron Ness be a candidate, as he is graduating a year early from Roseau and moving on to Minnesota?

That's actually a very good question. In the eyes of the MSHSL and the criteria for Mr. Hockey, is he a junior or a senior this year?
