thanks....forgot about him....how soon we forget....man he is good too...its nice to see somone win the award and still excel at the next level ie) division 1....as opposed to Nate Dey who plays for St. Cloud State...possibly the worst Mr. Hockey ever.

I'm sure that a defensman has won it, but I believe goalies may be excluded as they have their own award. I may be wrong, but I think it is the Frank Brimseck (sp?) award and is handed out to the top goaltender each year. Kind of like most pitchers won't be considered for an MVP award as pitchers have an award devoted completely to them.

Not positive though.

makes sense...i think your correct about the goalie award...they don't really give a lot of coverage to that it seems.

Sadly, no they don't. Not as much empahsis is put on goaltenders at the high school level. Look at I. Falls, they probably wouldn't have faired as well as they did last year with an average goaltender.

And which Title did they win with this stellar goaltender?

Since 2000, three of the Mr. Hockey winners have been defensemen:

Paul Martin, Elk River
Brian Lee, Moorhead
David Fischer, Apple Valley

That be just about 50%.

Most important position on the hockey team.

I never said that they won any title. I said that they wouldn't have faired as well as they did if they had an average goalie. Look up there, its there for you to reread. So go ahead, give it another shot. Apparently reading isn't one of your strong suits. If you are trying to pick a fight, pick it elsewhere. You obviously have a problem with me and if so, then contact me directly about it.

Joe Dziedzic wasn't a defenseman, but Kris Miller was.

I'm guessing there might be another defenseman who wins this award this year. My bet is Aaron Ness from Roseau or Joe Gleason from Edina.

Ness is not eligible for the Mr. Hockey award this season. You have to be a senior to win the award. I believe he is a junior.

He could be like Archie Griffin and win it twice! :D

You're right, I forgot he was only a junior! I'm going pull for Edina's Joe Gleason (even if he is going to be a Sioux  )

He may be considered as he's attempting to complete he junior and senior credits by this coming spring. It's up to the Minnesota Minutemen who sponsor the award and the college coaches and pro scouts who vote on the award. They are aware of Ness's situation and are currently evaluating his eligibility.
