Quality of Competition at the 16U level

Post by High Flyer »

I have not had the opportunity to watch any 16U games and was curious to hear from others who have either particapted, coached or watched would say.

How would you campare it the Bantam Hockey?

What about JV teams, how would a U16 team compare to them?

Comparing is tough, it really depends on what association/school your comparing it too. The bigger programs field the best U16 teams because they have the numbers to create an atmosphere where the sophmores/friends want to stick together. The better players in smaller associations will play JGA, with the rest co-oping with other association to field a U16. Centennial fielded a very competative U16 team last year, but found 90% of the games decided by 4+ goals. Centennial filled the JG ranks with an JGA tryout, then U16 Tryout(30 plus), and what was left made JGB.
