How many people in this forum are from Roseau?
The town has a population of about 2,500 versus a state population of around 5,000,000. What is that, one-half of one-tenth of one percent?
Obviously any message board centering on Minnesota hockey will have Roseau over-represented to its population, but it seems there are a lot of people here that are familiar with the Roseau program. Do you guys all know each other and just get online instead of heading to the coffee shop?

Be kind. Rewind.

Five of my wife's sisters were born in Roso.
But I am not from Roso.
But I enjoy the food and comraderie of Nelson's cafe.
My good friend, Mr. Carter, has an office on main street.
Some other friends, Mr. Erickson and Mr. Lundbohm, also have office's nearby.
My father-in-law and mother-in-law are buried just outside of Roso.
But, no, I am not from Roseau.

I know who one other person is. The others, it's just guess work. I have a few suspicions about a few people. I think i'm the mystery man, hopefully! it's fun to talk hockey without having to make a dinner date at the Brickhouse.O-townClown wrote:The town has a population of about 2,500 versus a state population of around 5,000,000. Who I am.
I was born and raised in Roseau, but haven't lived there in a couple years.
My parents are still there.
The backroad I lost my virginity on is till there.
A few friends still linger around.
The best greens in the world are still maintained by Carson.
The Memorial, North Rink, and Oakcrest golf course are still there looking better than ever, and allowing anyone under the age of 16 to play for free.

2000 Census data
Roseau population.........................2,756
State population......................4,919,479
percentage = 0.00056 x 100 = 0.056%

It's all about the passion, O Town. I haven't lived there in 15 years, yet still see 5-10 games a year and follow them religously.O-townClown wrote:The town has a population of about 2,500 versus a state population of around 5,000,000. What is that, one-half of one-tenth of one percent?

I am a Roseau alum. Most of my family still lives there and I go back every couple of months so my mom can spend time with her grandson. I figured out parents don't much care about you when they have grandkids. Maybe they didn't care to begin with. I might need counseling.
I didn't play hockey, as we moved there when I was too old to start. I love the school, the hockey program, and the town. I think about raising a family there but my wife isn't too keen about living there. She thinks it sucks it takes forever to get there from anywhere.
I was talking to Dan Fabian last winter and I didn't know he drives back and forth every Friday and Saturday night for Sioux games. These were weekends he wasn't switching off Ram games with his wife for Sioux games. He made the point that if you don't like driving, you can't live in Roseau. I fondly remember living there and it didn't seem so far to get places, but as I get older it seems like a long ways to get there.
