Pond Hockey film to be Shown on the Big Screen on 1/23/09

Post by Anoka Squirt A Team »

The Pond Hockey documentary film, featuring hockey legends, will be shown in the 850-seat Anoka High School theater on Friday, January 23, 2009, at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $8 per ticket.

The Pond Hockey tickets make great stocking stuffers or holiday gifts for your special hockey enthusiasts. The Pond Hockey public showing provides a wonderful opportunity to gather Minnesota's youth (and experienced) hockey players and enthusiasts in a large setting to view a special movie about playing hockey in the outdoors. This is an affordable team building or family event. Viewing the Pond Hockey film on a big screen, surrounded by hundreds of hockey enthusiasts, is a magical experience. When the film was shown in Roseau on the big screen, people were sitting in the aisles!

To purchase tickets, please send $8 for each ticket ordered and a self-addressed, postage pre-paid, envelope to:

Anoka Area Hockey Association
P.O. Box 112
Anoka, MN 55303

This event is a fundraiser for a 501(C)(3) entity. Accordingly, a portion of your purchase may be tax deductible. Consult your tax professional to determine whether you are entitled to deduct a portion of your ticket purchase.

Pond Hockey is a great film and this event supports traveling Youth Hockey in Minnesota. See you at the movies!

"Pond Hockey" is a genius documentary film about outdoor hockey and a perceived culture shift in youth sports--a frequent topic on this board. Pond Hockey is a must-see movie for any hockey enthusiast. Whether you consider yourself a traditionalist or a proponent of year-round AAA hockey, all hockey players who view this movie can't wait to find an outdoor rink or pond for a day or evening of pick-up hockey. Check out the trailer at http://www.pondhockeymovie.com/trailer.html

The movie will be played at Anoka High School on Janury 23, 2009, at 6:30 pm. Teams who view the movie with their coaches (10+ players) and order their tickets as a group will receive two free tickets for the coach and manager. Tickets are $8 each.

The Anoka High School theater seats 850 and is nicer than most--if not all-of the commercial theaters in the metro area. The theater has state-of the-art electronic equipment.

Come on metro area hockey fans, let's sell out Friday's show. Let's not be outdone by our friendly hockey peers in Roseau who sold out their show. Bragging rights are on the line here. Instead of bragging whose team is better on the ice, let's see which association is truly passionate about the sport. The association who sends the most fans to watch Friday's show wins. Because of a conflict in interest, the Anoka Hockey Association doesn't get to participate in the bragging rights' competition.

KFAN's Nate Miller, co-host of "Beyond the Pond", will be at Friday's show. Nate is a former left winger for the LA Kings and Gophers; he played high school hockey for Anoka. Nate will briefly address the audience before the start of the movie.

That would be the LA Kings system, not the actual Kings.
