Feb 27-28 Minnesota Duluth at Minnesota

Post by Lucia4President »

These two teams are going in very different directions. The Gophers are 3-8-1 in their last 12 games; UMD is 7-4-1. The teams are only separated by two points in the standings, but UMD is currently in fifth, while Minnesota sits in seventh. More importantly, the Bulldogs are 13th in the Pairwise; the Gophers are 19th.

Both teams will be fighting for much-needed victories this weekend, and it should be a great series at Mariucci.

Thoughts and predictions?

It would be easy for me to throw in the towel and say the Dogs will probably win both games, but................................... I can't do it.
Gopher sweep.

I want to say a Gopher sweep because they're way overdue, but I'm not seeing it. Split.

Dogs turn out the lights on the Gophers season and get three points.

The Gophers are fading fast. UMD is getting hot. The only reason I don't think this will be a UMD sweep is because of the olympic size sheet at Mariucci. Even if UMD does sweep the Gophers, I wouldn't say their season is done. If they make the Final Five, I think the NCAA will put them in the West Regional since it's in Minneapolis, just like they did for Wisconsin last year when the regional was in their backyard.

Anyway, I think these teams split at Mariucci this weekend.

Friday-
Minnesota 3
UMD 2

Saturday-
UMD 4
