Critical Error

Post by Mitch Hawker »

I moved the latest topics to a smaller forum just after 9:30 this morning to see if it helps with the "critical error" problem.

Please post here to comment on whether you have noticed any difference with the problem since then.

It still seems the same.

This time of the day is when the Critical Error occurs most.

only had the problem once today, on what I expect would be a high traffic day - tomorrow will be the real test.

Kicked me out as soon as I went to the new Forum. First time I tried to enter a subject.

Haven't had it happen yet since this change.
We'll see.

Actually I voted "it's a little better" and got this-

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

But I've only seen this a couple of times since the change, definitely better.

Mitch,

I have Firefox downloaded, and so far, no issues on this site.

It might almost be worse!!

It's just as bad as ever. I thought after the tournaments people would leave, traffic would go down, and things would be better, but no. I think during the off-season we need to move the board to another hosting provider. There are plenty of inexpensive places to host a website. I've set up PHPbb before and it's not rocket science.

It is brutal. Whatever was done has not improved it at all.

I have visited this site maybe once a day the past week - and this error has popped up every time. And about 10 times trying to post this.

I can't imagine how bad it will be when there are more than 3 people browsing the site this winter.

Just started reading and posting the past few weeks for the upcoming season and it's happened every time (I'd say about 5 times total).

Strange - for me (knock on wood) I don't get the error message nearly as often as I used to.

Don't see it as often as previously but I'm not on the site as often this year. I do get the error more frequently on my phone.
