Sadly, Rachel passed away today in the comfort of her home after battling cancer for the past year. The Duluth East community is very saddened by this news and prayers go out to the family of Rachel.

I just heard the news as well, and figured this deserved its own thread away from the infighting and discussion on Duluth East hockey.

I never met Rachel, but for a few nights this past March she inspired all of us who are connected to the East and Minnesota hockey communities. Her passing makes my memories of that wild weekend bittersweet.

Her CaringBridge site's guestbook is here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rache ... /guestbook

I have never met Rachel, but after attending the State Tourney last spring, and taking in the tremendous support and love the players and fans of Duluth East showed Rachel, I couldn't help but feel I did know her, and which is why today I do feel a profound feeling of sadness hearing the news that she has passed away.

My thoughts and prayers go to her family and all the friends she has around the state of Minnesota!
