Being the Northern team on top, I thought for sure the trend would end this year.

When is the mshsl going to admit that they seed all 8 teams this is the third year in a row the top seed has been matched up against the section 1 champion

Should be interesting to see Randolph vs Kloos.

Imagine that! Lakeville playing the 1 seed for the 3rd year in a row. Kloos IS the best offensive player in the state this year. But he is not good enough to beat East and there goaltending is average at best. East should win by 3. Good luck to both teams

6-2 East!
LS gets a couple to the back of the net, but East will have no trouble

Agreed - I think it's fine that they actually seed all 8 teams. WHY DON'T THEY JUST ADMIT THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE DOING? NCAA basketball seeds every team in the tournament, and everybody seems fine with that. Is the MSHSL worried about "hurting the feelings" of the 7 and 8 seeds? I just don't get it.

We can Debate the random draw all day, but to me, I think this is a good matchup. In the past 1AA has been far and away the easiest draw, but I don't see it that way this year. I think this South team will bring as much to the table as any of the other unseeded team ousting BSM. No free pass for east but I do think they will win a 2-3 goal game.

I don't think this will be a blow out Lakeville South is probably the best team to come out of 1AA since Rochester Century in '07 (I know that doesn't really say much). That being said I still think East pulls away in the 3rd and wins comfortably.

Duluth East will win this game, but I am very doubtful it will be a blow out. South has lost 1 game all year by more than 2 goals (Edina first game of the seasoon). In addition, of the top four seeds (having watched these two teams scrimmage) if your Lakeville South I think you aren't that angry about this seeding. In my opinion, Maple Grove or Edina would be more likely to blow this LS team out of the water. This will be the type of game that is very dependent on skill. From what I know (which may be wrong) East is not the team that goes out and physically punishes an entire team, although they were all over Rau last year. That gives the LS team a chance to possibly turn this into a run and gun game which they are good at. They score over 5 goals a game against a pretty decent schedule.

These kids are very familiar with each other. They tied in the fall in a scrimmage 4 days before the regular season started, and have played against each other in big games multiple times throughout their youth hockey. They know what to expect.

This is not your typical 1AA representative. This senior class has won a ton as a group. Its not the Lakeville North of the past 2 years that goes in just happy to be there. They want to win, and believe they can. Whether or not this is possible is obviously in doubt.

My guess is 5-3 DE. In a pretty fun game to watch. Don't count Kloos and company out.

That is my biggest fear. The defense has had numerous defensive breakdowns this year and while they are tightening down if they start to break down I worry that Kloos could do some damage.
Go Hounds.

I would think East would roll in this one.
Probably be tight for the first period or so.
I will say the Hounds will pull away late to win by 4.

Just like USA vs. USSR in 1980? I agree their odds aren't good, but with the highest scoring player in the state, I would give them something higher than a "ZERO" chance. DE goalie could have a bad game, LS goalie could stand on his head, Randolph, Toninato and Olson could have a bad game or get the flu. Again, DE is the favorite, but to say LS has ZERO chance seems aggressively offensive to LS. With that said, would you be willing to bet your entire net worth on the outcome? Didn't think so. IMHO

I'm on the Hound bandwagon. I'm a ER guy, but will be pulling for Randolph and the Hounds to make the run. Best of luck!
