Exposure tournament explained

Post by grandmeadowhockeyfan »

I could really use some explanation as to what is the tournament for.
Who gets to play in it ? Are the players invited or do players apply.
Is there an age range focus? How long is the season?
Please explain.

My son played last year..average player..thought it was an honor...a lot of kids below his ability....he was disappointed by the competition.

Not a lot of the top HS kids playing.

Great opportunity for ice time and games.

The Great 8 Tournament is the tournament to be at. I don't know of another off season tournament that displays higher caliber HS players. I agree that Xposure has fallen in skill level tremendously from what it used to be.

Very few "big name " players from what I can see listed on MN Hockey Hub

my guess is that the "big name" judgment is based on MN players. Given that about half the field or more is from out of state, I doubt anyone on this board really has the knowledge to judge the talent level of the rosters as a whole. However, if someone does, I'd be interested in their thoughts about these players from Manitoba, Calif. and even off the continent.

Shattuck recruiting event partially

Post by F14 »

Our varsity coach called as a follow up and was very upset and communicated that on the phone about them pulling over half of players from Canada and other parts of USA.

Speculation by me is that Shattuck partially uses it as a recruiting tool and is so worried about filling slots that the guarantee slots to make sure these kids are happy. Plus a kid from California or
Assachussetts (ha ha) parents want to buy those tickets a month in advance

Also several current Shattuck players including Brodeur and Sprang are obviously guaranteed spots for their parents for dropping huge coin to attend Shattuck plus the juniors and sophomores wh aren't on the top team want Exposure and parents do.

Just my two cents.

Shattuck and also the Elite League I believe. They use it as a fundraiser.
