Wasn't Franke already drafted by Bismarck as well?

Agree. Not saying it's right, but it (getting overlooked)happens to goalies all the time. IMHO, there are many talented goalies out there. But more than talent goes into advancing at that particular position, including politics, PR (it almost seems like you have to market & campaign), and being in the right place, at the right time, and on the right team.

He should have be nominated.

End of discussion. If it was option 1, apparently the coaches in this section know less than a bunch of people trolling a message board. If it was either of the other two options, who cares??
To set things straight to avoid continued rumors. Franke was the first kid nominated by his coaches at Elk River and was not voted by the Section 7A coaches. This is the problem with a Cities team in a northern section. Good old boys sticking together. I know, as Anders is my son. Great kid with a good future. Nuff said.
He does have a great future. He should have been on the roster. Your post was helpful and appreciated. Goalie selection often makes one wonder. Last year Parker was selected for Elite league without any varsity playing time, Look at the list of very good goalies with solid stats against good competition that were not invited to 18s or Xposure.

Puckhead, you hit the nail on the head regarding goalies. There are many talented hockey players, period, who are overlooked due to politics, etc., but it is a given with goalies. It's a known fact that most goalies take more time to develop, which is why very few go straight to college without a year or two in juniors. I saw quite a few goalies this year who played very, very well, but never got much recognition. One was the senior Lakeville North goalie Hart - solid player (beat South in regular season and gave DE a run for the money), but very little recognition. I was a little surprised he wasn't selected for the Great 8, but, if you are under the radar, as this kid obviously is, you won't get picked up. Most of these kids have no intention of going to the NHL, but would like to at least play a little college hockey, whether D1, D3 or just club, but they still need juniors to play college. Hopefully these junior teams won't just look at the players in events such as the Elite League, Great 8, etc. - they'll be missing a lot of good players if that is all they depend on.

Not playing for either, Fargo didn't protect him and Bismarck can't, so he's a FA..

Throughout the years of watching talented hockey players that don't get this opportunity to play at the next level brings me to ask a unanswered question. If, there is a player that belongs in the Elite group, but is overlooked due to the fact he is not on anyone's radar, how does one acheive to be under the radar with all the politics and essentially does not have any connections to get nominated? Pretty sad for the player that has received high honors academically and athletically throughout there High School career and can't even get a look at. Obviously, most of the players that get nominated play for upper bracket high schools and those that don't get overlooked due to there high school status. Or is this not true? Just throwing it out there to help understand

With Franke that really isn't the case. He was on most people's radar as one of the state's best goaltenders and was awarded first team all-metro. It is quite surprising that he hasn't been picked up by a junior team yet, but it's not due to lack of exposure.

He was tendered by Austin Bruins in the NAHL before the draft and will be playing for the Bruins next year.

You have no clue what you are talking about! Leave the young man alone and let him develop post high school.
