Gopher women are awesome this year. I would encourage everyone to get to at least one game this season - maybe their most talented team ever.

**DISCLAIMER - I know nothing about women's hockey.

ANYWAYS, is women's college hockey nationally dominated by Minnesota girls? More or less then mens? DI - DIII? curious.

"Dominated" would be way too strong of a word. In terms of numbers Minnesota consistently produces far more college players than any other state, at both the D1 and D3 levels. But you would have to say that MOST of the very top D1 players hail from other places, including other states, Canadian provinces and Europe. And in fact about half the Gopher players, including some very key contributors, are NOT from Minnesota. But then again, the Gophers do have many key contributors - including freshman phenom Hannah Brandt - who ARE from Minnesota. So IMO they have a great combination and it's the best of both worlds.

It's also interesting to note that at the D3 level the "West" (MIAC and NCHA) has never produced the national champion, and there are not very many Minnesota girls who play for Eastern D3 schools. Hopefully the East's string will be broken in the near future, maybe this coming March.
