Hermantown (5-0) @ Denfeld (5-3) 12-20-12 7:30pm

All three of Denfeld's losses have been 1 goal games.
The last game of both teams is a win against Virginia where they both allowed 3 goals.

Should be a good game.

I do gree that this will be a tight game , but the games against Virginia have nothing to do with it. After a ten day layoff Hermantown did score nine against Virginia and gave up the third goal in the last minute of the game. Denfeld also lost to Orono and Hermantown won 8-0. It will be a good game because Denfeld has Thompson in the nets and when he is on, he is one of the best goalies around. If Denfeld can stay out of the box and keep their forecheck up, this should be a good one.

All 4 Hawk lines will get a chance to pelt Thompson in this one.
Him being “on” is Denfeld’s only chance.
I say Hermantown by 5 or more.

Don't know what you expect from their youth schedule but maybe you should do some research before you hit send. They have tournaments and cities swings where they play AA associations. They may not travel from The North as much as Duluth East, but they do have there share of good matchups.

Ya they must have like 5 quality oppents this season - 2 more than last season so they are really trying to make that end of the year statement for best team in Minnesota when they go 23-2 and take consolation at state

Youth Hockey. Not talking about the High School.

You mean like scheduling cupcake programs like Eden Prairie in 2009-2011 having a last second OT loss @EP, then getting dropped off EPs scedule when EP wins their title and losses half the team that just slipped by a group of Jr's from a Class A school. No need to schedule a competitive A public school right?

Last I checked Hermantown is a Class A public school. They have 5-6 AA schools on the schedule and the rest of the cupcake scedule is filled with top 15 A programs. But keep up with the hatred and cluelessness.

Maybe spend your time convincing Mike Randolph and Duluth East to stick around home and stop wasting money travelling to the cities to play "cupcake"" bottom tier AA teams that aren't in their Section. (We've known since about 1998 that's not going to happen)

Play was in Denfeld end 75% of the time. Shots 47-19. Denfeld goals came on powerplays and bad pass intercepted for a breakaway. Denfeld goalie played stellar. Not much else to say.

50 shots on Thompson. He played very well. But the story of the night was the undisciplined play from the Hawks. Team seemed to be more worried about hitting then playing the puck. Very poor D play. Bad section loss.

They are not in the same section, Denfeld is 7A.

This result has to give SCC that much more hope.

Ummm, hermantown had 3 PP goals, and denfeld had 2. One on hermantowns other goals was shot from behind the goal line and went in off a D in front and in. I thought both teams looked poor, and undisiplined. Pionk (UMD recruit) got a high stick major after a period ended. Thompson for denfeld played good and definitely won that game for his team. Hermantown now has a few tough teams in the Xmas tourney, then duluth Marshall right after New Years. Their young goalie better shake off that game, or he might have a long next few weeks.

There are 2 Pionk boys on the team it was the other one with the major. Agree, very undisciplined game by Hermantown for sure.

Hermhawkey, I know there are 2 pionk boys on the team. But #9 is the umd recruit who had the major penalty.

This was not a fun game to sit and watch whether you were a Htown or DD fan. Not a lot of prime hockey played last night except for DD golalie Thompson. Very undiciplined and unfocused play on Htowns part which cost them the chance to win.

Congrats to the Hunters..big win for them...and I still think Hermantown should play tougher schedules at all levels!
