Section 6AA

This section is so thin, looks like Wayzata is just going to crush everyone on the way to a state tourney bid.

With a whole Lake Conference schedule left for EP / Tonka / Wayzata its hard to tell seeds but if Tonka beats BSM tonight that would give BSM 5 losses (HM, Blaine, Wayzata, STA). Don't you think it will be hard for them to get the #1 seed if Wayzata and Tonka do well the rest of the season?? Possibly even a #3 seed for BSM. We should have a much clearer picture after tonight. Wayzata has only 2 losses (Edina, BSM). Wayzata has a tough road the next 5 games, HM, Holy Fam, EP, Mtka, Edi.

Section 6

Still too many section games remain to handicap this one.

Things should become a little more clear after the first round of Lake Conference games along with the BSM vs. Tonka & the BSM vs. Holy Family games.

6AA Update

Post by blueblood »

With Tonka's big W over the #1 ranked Trojans last night, that just about locks up the #1 spot for BSM. Only way BSM is not #1 is if Tonka runs the table in the Lake Conference.

The top 3 against each other are:

BSM:
1-1 vs. Wayzata
1-0 vs. Tonka
2-1 overall

Remaining section games: Play HF and Ep

Tonka
0-1 vs. BSM
1-0 vs. Wayzata
1-1 overall
Can finish 2-1 by sweeping Wayzata; loss to BSM prevents #1 seed unless they go 8-0 in Lake.

Wayzata
1-1 vs. BSM
0-1 vs. Tonka
1-2 overall
Can finish 2-2 by beating Tonka on the road; would get #2 seed if they do

Remaining teams:

HF - no wins against ranked AA teams, lost to ER; 12-4-0 overall
Ep - beat ER, beat Prior Lake, split with Jefferson and tied GR; sitting at .500 with 8-8-1 record
Hopkins - beat Cloquet; currently in a 5-game losing streak

Hopkins skid will push them into the #6 seed

HF and Ep both play BSM - If HF were to win and Ep lose a case cold be made for HF to grab the #4 seed, but I don't see the it happening based on Ep's wins.

If they both win or both lose, Ep will get the #4 seed based on Strength of Schedule.

So the other 19 games don't make a difference in section seedings :?

Section games carry most weight, followed by overall wins and Strength of Schedule.

Trust me, that's just the way it is...

BSM wins this section and wins another State title. If the Pioneers are fortunate to make it back to the Tourney, it could even be a repeat titale game....which would make sooo many people happy.

Way to early to say anyone has a seed locked up in this section, still a lot of important section games; Tonka vs. EP (2), Tonka/EP vs Wayzata, HF/EP vs BSM.

MHF:

I said "Just about locks up". My current seedings order for 6AA is:

1) BSM
2) Tonka
3) Wayzata - big drop from #1 ranking to #3 seed in 6AA
4) Ep
5) HF
6) Hopkins
7) Mpls
8) Armstrong
9) Cooper

BSM will get the #1 without question, the only question mark is if EP can make a run and supplant WHS or MHS for a top 3. Doubt that will happen.

They still have to beat Holy Family and Eden Prairie. There is still a "question". If Tonka does manage to go 7-1 or 8-0 in Lake Conference play, a definite argument could be made for their spot at #1. Only time will tell.

With BSM beating Tonka and Wayzata fairly handily, unless they really stumble they will not lose the #1 seed.

They are pretty much in the driver's seat. Only EP and HF left to play in their section.

If they win out, they'll get the #1 seed.

Did the Trojans beat BSM quite handily over the Xmas holidays 7 to 1 and running time at the end...how we forget quickly

If I do the simple math....

Wayzata 9 goals, BSM 6 goals

I would have to give the Trojans the edge in head to head competition.

Lets not forget, Digmann was not in goal in the rematch...

I sure hope we play BSM in the rematch....go Trojans.

I honestly believe any of the top 4 teams can still come out the #1 seed. BSM if they beat EP and HF, and have no bad non-section losses. Wayzata if they win the Lake. Tonka if they win, or second behind Edina, in the Lake. EP if they finish Lake play 6-2, only if second loss is to Edina, and beat BSM.

What does everyone think the seedings would be if sections started tomorrow? I look at it as 1.BSM 2.Tonka 3.Wayzata 4.EP 5.HF right now, with BSM, barring a loss to EP or HF, having the 1st seed locked up.

6AA projected seeds

Post by blueblood »

BB Seeds as of 2-2-13:

1) BSM - could drop to #2 with an Ep loss or Tonka sweep of the Lake Conf.
2) Tonka - Could move up to #1 (see above) =D>
3) Wayzata - appears to be locked in for the #3 seed
4) Ep - Could move up to the #3 with wins over BSM and Wayzata
5) HF - No more chances for this team to move up and secure a home QF game. No wins over ranked AA teams. ](*,) #-o
6) Hopkins - A win in the Lake Conference could boost them up to the #5 seed
7) Rest of the field...

Looks accurate. I would think that if BSM beats EP and does not have a loss to a weaker team it's theirs regardless if the skippers sweep.

If Ep wins all 3, they could move up to the #3 seed. They will not get the #1 or #2 seed.
