The Minnesota Magicians and the NAHL

Post by frederick61 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:31 am

Wednesday the Minnesota Magicians held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Richfield Arena. We have just posted our first Magician story on YHH and it can be read at;
http://www.youthhockeyhub.com/the-magic ... r-is-open/

The Magicians are a new franchise in the North American Hockey League and YHH over the past year has covered NAHL games and they are some of our more popular reads over time. We will be covering the Magicians during the season at different times and will post links to our stories here.

Some times hockey is about alternatives and it will be interesting to follow the Magicians in the 2013-2014 season. They are providing an alternative, but they will have a tough bar to clear as a new start since most of the NAHL teams sell out their arenas.

Their management and owners are putting this team together mostly for their love of the game and to provide junior players a local opportunity to further their hockey careers.

cant wait for Twin Cities fans to get a chance to see the Junior Level. A 2 million dollar renovation is going to be great for the rink. The roster looks great, many talented players from all over the world. I will be attending all of the home games.

Magicians All Star game

Post by Zamman » Sun Jul 28, 2013 12:26 pm

I watched the All Star game last night for the Magicians. I have to say it was pretty good. Very fast, a high school game on octane. I though the Uglum twins from Moorhead looked good along with a player from Minot HS, A d-man. Goalies also looked good. Fast skaters and quick gloves. I am excited to see the games this year.

I saw the game Sunday morning - it was very good - once the list gets reduced to 25 - 30 I suspect it will look even better, as there were a couple kids that didn't seem to want to move the puck, which usually doesn't work at the Jr level.

The Richfield Mayor will be dropping the ceremonial first puck at 700pm

Where: Richfield Arena
When: Saturday, September 28th at 7:05pm

I saw both games over the weekend as well - Saturday was a great game, very entertaining. Sundays games didn't have much flow with all the penalties - on both teams. Look forward to catching the game this Saturday as it is the first game they get to serve beer...

Just posted the game story from Saturday between the Magicians and the Wilderness. It was a great game with both teams playing well. Hats off to both Minnesota coaches (Scott Meyer and Cory Milan). They have different approaches to the game, but both teams play hockey and play well. The game story can be read at:

Next Home Game @ Richfield
Friday, October 11th

Magicians vs Wilderness

ARRIVE EARLY FOR THE BEST PARKING AND ENJOY A BEER

Last weekend the Magicians pull off an epic comeback in a Saturday night tilt vs the Minnesota Wilderness. Down 2-0 with 1 minute remaining in the game, the Magicians scored two goals in regulation and eventually won in a shootout. It was an 11 man shootout, yes 11! Cody Milligan eventually finished it off with a nice 5 hole snipe.

Richfield Arena was buzzing with excitement and the fans sure got their money's worth. It was a great Junior game crowd, around 900 fans!!

If you haven't seen a game yet you will not be disappointed; great hockey, free parking, and BEER. Live Magicians entertaining the younger crowd, 93X girls for the older fellas, and an awesome light show to start the game. You'll know when the Magic scores, the new horn is loud and makes the arena have a pro feel. It doesn't get any better!

Just posted an update on last weekend's games including a game story on the Magicians' 3-2 win over the Wilderness. Next Sunday, the Coulee Region Chill led by NAHL league leading goalie Adam Carlson and forwards Mac Jansen/White Bear Lake, Adam Lovick/Lino Lakes, and Jake Zeleznikar/Hermantown will be at the Richfield Arena for a rare 3:00 Sunday game.

I caught the Sunday afternoon game between the Magicians and the Coulee Region Chill - it was all magicians. I was expecting more out of Coulee and was a little surprised. Most of Coulee's shots were from the outside - not many good scoring chances for them. It will be interesting to see if Coulee was just "off" Sunday or if the series will be that lopsided.

Third game in 3 days I would say off their game a bit fro energy standpoint. Coulee is a solid club. Should be a good series throughout.
