I think Brainerd will finally win one of their close 7AA games. They played right with GR and dominated Flake but couldn't find a way to win. This will be the game after they finally find how to beat a good opponent at the Schwan Cup. - ER

Brainerd 3
Cloquet 1

Actually for seeding purposes I hope Brainerd wins. If GR beats CEC in cloh-kay, then it won't matter. But I'd like to see Esko lose to some opponents GR defeated. I'm hoping GR gets #1, then 2-6 is a mess and we can just sit back and watch everyone else debate the other seeds.

For what it's worth, the LPH rankings have ER, DE, CEC, and GR all in the top 15. Brainerd belongs in there. I wonder if another section even has 3 in the top 15.

PS-if you remembered what happend with Rapids and Greenway with the seeds in 01-02, you would understand why it's a touchy subject for us. Don't even ask the details on it. I'm just afraid of them getting screwed again after that.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... hs>GR19 at: 12/29/05 10:47 pm

I know that's what you are saying and I agree. There's probably a group of 20 teams that could beat each other on a given night. Holy Angels is a level above everyone else when their game is on.

I think Brainerd prooved they can play with most anyone in their section this year but I do not have a good feeling for them against old Cloh-kay. I think they will stick with them but they do not have enough fire power on offense to pull it out.

Cloh-kay-5
Brainerd-3

This should be a great chance for all the 7AA pundits to see that there is a big difference top to bottom in this section. The 'Jacks and Hounds are clearly the class of this section and most likely will play for the title in early March. Look for Cloquet to win 5-1.

I think it will be a tight game and anybody's game. If both goaltenders are on (yes, Mr. Ellingson has off nights too), it will be close. If Cloquet is off their game at all, Brainerd will take them. Defensively Brainerd is very strong, and they have fire power at the other end of things too. They should not be underestimated.....however it is about this time of year (in the past) when things start to go south for them........so you just never know........

How much fire power does Brainerd really have? Hasn't most of their offense come from their first line this year or have their other lines started putting up stats as well?

Their coach mixes it up...the Finlander has been out on different lines and has impacted most of the time. But I would agree (if that is what you were implying) that Brainerd is stronger defensively, and probably stronger defensively than Cloquet. Cloquet may be stronger offensively than Brainerd. We will see how they fair against each other soon enough.

Defense has always been CEC's strong point. I highly doubt Brainerd is better defensively than CEC.

I think that the confidence of the Brainerd team right now is through the roof. Not in a bad way either. They have a relatively week schedual and none of the players are happy about it. After a strong performance in the Schwan's Cup, i think that they will be eager to prove at home what they can do with good teams.

BRAINERD: 4
CLOQUET: 2

Brainerd 3rd line

Post by Dangle88 » Sat Dec 31, 2005 2:13 am

Brainerd's 3rd line really tore it up at the Schwan's Cup. I think it was number 6, 13, and 26. They didn't really dangle a lot but they sure played hard in the corners and played in the opponents end most of the tourney. It will be disappointing if this line is split up due to the injured first liner Larson. They played well together and had really good chemistry. It will help the warriors if Eigner finally decides to play these boys like they deserve to be played...

Brainerd 4
CEC 2

GR19, I haven't seen CEC play yet this year but previous posters throughout various threads on this board indicated CEC is playing with a weaker defense this year as compared to years past. Perhaps they have stepped it up, I don't know.
But I will repeat that defensively Brainerd is very good....sometimes deceptively so. While I am not typically a Brainerd fan, I do hope they take CEC.
