any arena where wbl plays hill or cent, except for cents arena because its too small. The atmosphere is awesome with the amount of people that pile into those places. Last year for the 3AA finals there was like 8000 people at the coliseum for the wbl cent game, and it was more then fully occupied.
The curse lives on.....

The IRA has sweet locker rooms, lobby, and overall rink and atmosphere. That is a quality one. A little closer to the cities, Richfield is nice.

Hibbing Memorial Arena - Great place to watch. Going up for the tournament is always a treat. All 7 A & AA should be played there.

Advantage to Hibbing for atmosphere and ice quality.

Advantage to DECC for the fact that you get to watch both semi-final games for the cost of one ticket.

Hibbing is a great semifinal venue. The whole tradition of going up there, seeing East win and then heading over to Sammy's Pizza, is tons of fun.

Keep the finals at the DECC, so everybody can get a ticket. Of course, unless you have Cloquet and East playing, that probably isn't a problem.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about Hibbing and the DECC. Hibbing you're just awed walking up to that huge brick building, you feel the history and the electricity of section playoffs walking down the sidewalk up to the building. Last year I had breakfast at some sportsman cafe downtown and talked old school hockey with the old timers, it's fun to go back in the past and re-live the roots a little bit.

The DECC is a nicer building, doesn't really have the history like Hibbing, but the views of the lake are relaxing. The DECC is very comfortable, no frost bitten toes. Definetly more to do in Duluth like on Section title game day. Like hang out at Barnes, have a pumkin spice chai, read entrepreneur and dwell, lunch at Applebee's, mini golf at that place by the bridge and pizza and billiards at Old Chicago in Canal Park before the game. That's my plan for a perfectly fun day. I can't wait.

My question is how good are all these other rinks? Because The Ralph is amazing! If there are any that top it, lets hear it?

Hibbing is the best arena ever. And that opinion is as unbiased as Bill O'Reilly. But I must say I love watching games at the DECC. With pretty much all the seats above the ice you get a great view of the ice. But come on, you go into the Hibbing Memorial Building and you see the colored stands and it's like being back into the 1970's. Then they start playing that awesome mixed tape and BOOM 1980's. The only thing that annoys me about the arena is the press box. I didn't even get to see the 2 goals Hibbing scored in the 97 final vs. East(damn old folks not going moving from the middle of the student section).

My biased opinion. Great sightlines. I have been watching games there for almost 40 yrs. starting with the Johnson powerhouse teams of the 60s to HM games for the past 25 yrs. Nothing better than the Johnson-Harding games from about 1965 -75 and the HM-WBL games starting in about 1980.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... nhs>bob at: 1/7/06 5:10 pm

Best Arena

If you want atmosphere, I would have to say that the Moorhead Sports Center is one of my choices, back in 02-05 they had some of the best fans EVER. Sell out crowds every home game. Gotta love the Sports Center, anyone agree?

1timer-
I will agree with you on this one buddy. The Moorhead SC is one of my top choices also. Atmosphere is what it's all about there. I especially like the Dominos Pizza. One thing I would like to see is the SC to be renovated. It's still a great arena, but it can be better! Plus a championship banner would be nice also.

The Gardens in Warroad, Andover's new arena is nice, as well as Breck Anderson Arena.
