antnovak: Please do some research before posting about teams. The Falls only played two of the teams you mentioned.

Facts: The Falls has 3 losses to Roseville, Breck and Grand Rapids. They also have 2 ties.

1 goal wins: 5 games
2 goal wins: 3 games
3 goal wins: 3 games two against Greenway
4 goal wins: 2 games against Eveleth and Princeton
5 goal wins: 1 game vs. Roseau at Roseau 5-0

Now that is 19 out of 24 games against something other than the sisters of the poor. They have 5 games in which they have beaten the opponent by 6 or more.

Gordon has done GREAT in BIG games. A few examples below.

10-4 in two games vs. Greenway. 8 points avg 4
5-4 over Grand Rapids 5 points
5-4 over Lourdes 4 points
5-0 over Roseau 5 points

Now with your logic if he continued to play those teams he would have 100 pts right now, but instead he only has 75. Has he scored a lot of points in a couple of blowouts? Yes! And so have the other top players in the state.

Take a look at Holy Angels and some of there scores.

13-1
12-1
8-1
7-1
7-0
6-0
7-1
8-0
11-3
7-0
6-0

Who plays a tougher schedule for the team they are on?

Gordon has proven his worth at every level.

USA 17 festival leading scorer in St. Cloud
All Tournament team USA festival
USA coach called him the most consistent player over seas along with Borgen.
Second week in USHL. antnovac,
Well, if those deaf, dumb and blind kids over at sister mary's school are Catholic then no doubt, even though they may or may not not be 'wizards' at pinball, they would definately qualify as Superior MN High School Hockey Players by virtue of their faith alone, let alone their talent thus being deemed as worthy opponents to anyone who comes down the pike.
You know and I know that jr doesn't mess around and if jr and BIAFP and petey and the other distinguished members of this forum give the nod for Ben 'Points' Gordon then you have to say that this Gordon phenomenon has a very good chance to win.
He still has one more game to play in the regular season doesn't he?, and he already is 9 points ahead of JK. It appears that the only way that JK could surpass him in points is if he gets knocked out of the state finals and Holy Angels goes all the way.
That of course would give JK more games to work with, and maybe a better shot at winning the vote for Mr. Hockey 2003 which in turn would make guys like me and Zamman and joe and latecomers like Mitch and Video Scout as well as the rest seem like prophets.
And if not them, for sure me <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Get used to it! Ill have to throw in my vote for Jimmy K as well. Im just looking at the last stats and it looks like Jimmy has only 58 points on the season. Oh yeah, so does Mike Taylor. Rollwagen has 54 and Huck has 45. No doubt that Jimmy is sharing the scoring with 3 other guys and thats why his points total isnt as high as gordons or borgens. Kilpatrick should win Mr. Hockey 03

Gordon vs. Kilpatrick

Post by jr » Sat Feb 15, 2003 6:12 pm

Poor argument that you made hockeyfan03.

First off AHA has scored about 30 more goals because of their schedule.

Second Kilpatrick has many other top players around him so he is not shadowed.

Gordon is shadowed in about 80% of his games and yet he still finds a way to get it done. Gordon is actually much more of a playmaker than scorer yet he has almost as many goals as assists this year. The kid is the real deal!

Both are great players but I believe that Gordon has proven more at the high school and junior/select level. Time will determine who is the winner.

Actually fellas, Jimmy Kilpatrick has 66 points so far on the season. 31 goals and 35 assists. Mike Taylor from AHA also has 65 points netting 28 goals and assisting on 37. Ben Gordon on the other hand up until todays game in which his team won by a score of 10 to 1
had 75 points scoring 32 goals and 43 assists and I haven't found out how many points Gordon was in on in todays trouncing of Proctor at the hands of Gordon and his mates from International Falls. -Slapshooter

Trying to recreate some of the magic you had in last year’s topic? It’s pretty entertaining but doesn’t seem to have the same aggravation level with everyone. Good luck. Oh I also remember seeing in a post that videoscout gave you tickets to the ND Vs. Michigan Tech game. I just wanted to know how the atmosphere is at Engelstad Arena in a game against a team other then the Gophers. Oh and what do you think of Zach Parise? You know if he didn’t leave for Shattuck and skip the seventh grade this topic would have had no argument or discussion in my mind. But I’m guessing it still would have been a discussion for others if he still would of chosen ND instead of the Gophers. People possibly could have said the same arguments that Ben Gordon is going to MN so he will win, and who knows Ben might of even had a little more points then Zach (and this seems to be a main issue/factor ‘points’?) would of had if he would of stayed at Bloomington Jefferson, (I) doubt Ben would have had more points. But we will never know. Oh Slap, I’m almost positive you would have stayed with your Catholic pick Kilpatrick.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

It has to be Ben Gordon, leading scorer for the second year in a row in the state with 83 points. The gophers know what they are doing with this recruit. Already 170+ points in the last two seasons!

BIAFP knows all. Gordon is the real deal and has 209 points in three seasons of HS hockey. 70 point average isn't bad. If had a pure goal scorer with him, he would easily have over 100 points this year.

MR.HOCKEY

Post by MnHockey04 » Tue Feb 18, 2003 5:52 pm

Hey can anyone tell me why Gordon has 67 points this year? Hmm...let's see he has played in games where his team has scored 10 to 0, 16 to 2, 11 to 0, 8 to 2, 9 to 1...he has around 39 points in these games! He is a great player and all and I have seen him play, but scoring half of your points in easy @&% games?<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/mad.gif ALT=">:"> That does not seem so MR.Hockey to me!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

MNhockey04: Do some research before posting.

Gordon has 83 points and yes he scored a bunch in a few blowouts, so have all the other big names.

The Falls has lost 3 games, tied 2, won five 1 goal games, won three 2 goal games, won three 3 goal games two against Greenway, two 4 goal games against Eveleth and Princeton, and one 5 goal game against Roseau.

Now that is 19 out of 25 games that were fairly tight.

Ben is hounded more than any other player in the state and yet he still produces. If he had a pure goal scorer with him his stats would be out of this world.

The kid has proven his worth in high school, juniors, and selects. He is the real deal and will most likely win the Mr. Hockey award because of his outstanding abilities!

He has also produced in many big games: Some examples below.

10-4 in two games vs. Greenway 8 points (avg 4)
5-4 over Lourdes 4 points
5-0 over Roseau 5 points
5-4 over Grand Rapids 5 points

Now if he continued to play those games he would have ended up with over 90 points. Funny how his detractors want to bring up a couple of blowout games. Check out AHA if you really want to see lopsided scores!

I agree Gordon should get it, lets see what kind of numbers he would put up if he spent a season playing in the Missota.
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... kipper4 at: 2/18/03 9:06:22 pm
