Breck 4, St. Paul United 2

Grace Zumwinkle's hat trick led No. 1A Breck to a 4-2 win over No. 3A St. Paul United at Drake Arena. The United dominated on the shot clock 36-19, but the Mustangs' Jenna Brenneman came up with 34 saves to secure the win.

19 of 21 thought Breck would win the game, and ironically the two goal differential of their average predicted score (3.5-1.5) was right on. Four called it just right at 4-2 and get the bonus point: panpan111, mnhockey3535, MNHockeyFan and hugo_lucas.

Wayzata 0, Minnetonka 4
After a scoreless first period, No. 2AA Minnetonka scored twice in the second and added two more in the third for a 4-0 win over 8AA Wayzata. Presley Norby again led the Skippers with two goals and an assist, while Katie McMillan and Kippin Keller each had two assists. Tatyana Delaittre stopped all 19 Wayzata shots she faced to record her sixth shutout of the season.

All 21 favored the Skippers, but there were no correct scores. Knight7 was the only one to predict a shutout, but he was one off with his 5-0 call.

After just three games we have a four-way tie for 1st:

1. panpan111 - 3 points
mnhockey3535 - 3
MNHockeyFan - 3
hugo_lucas - 3

5. Fifteen tied with 2

20. Two with 1

Next two games are Thursday evening...

Ramsey Parent scored two goals and Paige Beebe scored one and added two assists in Blaine's 6-0 one-sided win over Stillwater. In goal Morgan Cin stopped all 18 Stillwater shots to get the shutout, her 5th of the season.

All but one upset-minded prognosticator predicted a Bengals' win, but no one quite predicted such a lop-sided score (average was 4.0 - 1.3)

The Blake Bears rode a dominating second period to beat the Lakeville South Cougars 5-2 at the Blake School Ice Arena. After the first period ended tied at one, Blake fired 20 shots on goal in the second - while giving up just 4 - and outscored the Cougars 4 to 1 in the session to take a 5-2 lead. Carly Bullock, who will be playing for Princeton next season, led the way with a hat trick, her 9th of the season! 8)

All 21 predicted a Bears win, and this time two - nu2hockey and READYtoPLAY - also got the score which enabled both to move into a five-way tie for 1st:

1. panpan111 - 5 points
mnhockey3535 - 5
MNHockeyFan - 5
nu2hockey - 5
READYtoPLAY - 5

6. Sparlimb - 4
Hansonbrother - 4

Just one game tomorrow, followed by another "Super Saturday" featuring six games, two of which are evenly divided and two more where there is considerable disagreement. Should make for a fun finish! :)

Maple Grove 7, Breck 2
Lauren Kaufmann's three goal hat trick, to which she added two assists for a five point night, propelled Maple Grove, ranked #4 in Class AA, over Breck, ranked #1 in Class A. Also heavy contributors to the Crimson offense were Taylor Wente, with a goal and three assists, and Maia Martinez with a goal and two assists. Maple Grove had a 37-25 advantage in shots on goal.

A difference-maker in our Week 10 contest, with just 8 of 21 picking the winner. But no one had the winner scoring more than 4 goals, so the Crimson's 7 goal outburst was very much a surprise to everyone. The average predicted score was a tight 2.6 - 2.4 in favor of Breck.

Going into tomorrow's "Super Saturday" here's your updated Leaderboard. With Maple Grove's win we've gone from a five-way tie for 1st to a two-way tie for 1st:

1. panpan111 - 6 points
READYtoPLAY - 6

3. Hansonbrother - 5
mnhockey3535 - 5
THEBUCKSTOPSHERE - 5
MNHockeyFan - 5
nu2hockey - 5

Three of six games are being reported as final:

Wayzata 2, Hill-Murray 7
Our entire group picked the Pioneers to win, but nobody had the Trojans scoring more than one goal. Average score was 4.9 to 0.6, so I guess both teams exceeded expectations in terms of offense.

Minnetonka 4, Edina 1
We were evenly divided on this one - 10 and 10 with one draw. Average predicted score was nearly as close, at 2.8 to 2.6. Again, no bonus points.

Maple Grove 0, Elk River/Zimmerman 2
A bona fide upset, with just 5 picking the winning team. But none of those 5 had the Crimson getting shut out.

Top of the standings pending the three outstanding games:

1. panpan111 - 8
THEBUCKSTOPSHERE - 8
The Bone - 8

4. MNHockeyFan - 7
easthockeydad - 7
rascalbrock - 7
READYtoPLAY - 7
sinbin - 7

Final three game results, and Week 10 standings:

Centennial 1, Blake 3
All but two picked the Bears to win, and there was one correct score... :o

Forest Lake 1, Mounds View 1 (OT Tie)
Our group was nearly evenly split, with Flake holding a narrow edge in votes (11-10) and score (2.6-2.4). But it didn't matter because the two teams tied, which nobody predicted. Zeros all around.

Stillwater 1, White Bear Lake 7
A big surprise in terms of the score, but not which team would win. 15 of 21 picked WBL to come out on top, but nobody had them scoring more than 4 goals.

Thanks to my lucky guess on the Centennial/Blake score, I somehow managed to move up into a three-way tie for first, along with panpan111 and THEBUCKSTOPSHERE:

1. panpan111 - 10 points (9/12 with 1 score)
THEBUCKSTOPSHERE - 10 (10/12, no scores)
MNHockeyFan - 10 (8/12 with 2 scores)

4. easthockeydad - 9
The Bone - 9

6. Hansonbrother - 8
GoalieDefense - 8
mnhockey3535 - 8
nu2hockey - 8
wolfman - 8
massalsa - 8
READYtoPLAY - 8
sinbin - 8

14. Six with 7

20. Two with 6

Look for Week 11 - the final of the regular season - to be posted very soon!
