Comparison of Boys HS Hockey in Northern High Plains Region

Post by LSQRANK » Thu Jan 12, 2017 11:20 pm

The mid-season rankings for Boys HS hockey was released by LSQRank earlier this week. The partial overall rankings included high school hockey leagues in regions ranging from the Mid-West, Central, Northern High Plains, Mountain-West, USA/CAN independent Prep, New England Prep, Ontario Midget_AAA and USA 18U AAA.

Below is a diagram showing the trend lines for each high school league designated in the Northern High Plains region. The state HS leagues included in this plot are: MB, ND, SD, MN, IA & WI. The trend lines are annotated with the specific teams corresponding to their plotted ranked position. The MN trendline has two distinct inflection points, breaking the curve into 3 separate linear line segments: [(1)Hermantown ... (37)Eastview]; [(38)St.Cloud ... (115) Lake of the Woods]; [(116)Simley ... (159)Morris/Benson]

Equivalent teams between different state leagues can be determined by reading horizontally across the plot. For example, at approximately the 993 score level the following teams would be considered equivalent: St.Paul's (Wpg, MB), FargoSouth(ND), AppletonUnited(WI), Middleton(WI), WestSalem(WI), HolyAngels(MN) and RochesterJM(MN)
