Gotta give the Farmington Tigers LOTS of credit for hanging tough against a super-skilled Edina Hornets team. Very fast action both ways, probably the fastest of the tournament(s) so far. But can the Tigers keep it up and make it a game for two more periods?

I hope I'm not the only one watching this game, because it's terrific. I would have given you big odds that the game would not be tied after two periods of play.

Big congrats to Farmington for giving Edina all they wanted before finally surrendering three in the 3rd. Abby Bollig, with 49 saves, was terrific in goal to keep it tied at 1-1 into the final frame. A nice effort all around against tournament favorite and No. 1 team in the State since early in the season. Based on what I saw tonight I can see why; they have a lot of weapons and play the game the right way.

Farmington battled like crazy....with THAT many shots by Edina,you knew some goals would come...plus, Farmington would skate up but lose possession before getting a shot, still nice job Tigers!

The streaming sure is handy....beats $17/session + 10 parking +food...for quarter-finals

Semi's are best in person..
Friday sessions can be a blast

The Eagles did a nice job of keeping Flake to the outside, very good defensive play when the Rangers did enter the zone. While EP is not as deep as last year's team they have two top-notch players in Rogge and Hengler. Rogge's unassisted goal toward the end of the period was very impressive.

Forest Lake never gave up and played better as the game wore on, scoring two to get within two in the 3rd, but you don't win many hockey games when you give up 6. I was expecting a more defensive and low scoring game, but it sure didn't turn out that way. And wow UMD is sure getting a good one next year in Naomi Rogge, who with 3 goals + 2 assists put on a real show out there this evening.

EP, with a max effort, can beat Edina. Will the show up with enough to do so tomorrow? Both games should be entertaining, although after the way the regular season game against Blaine went, I'm not holding my breath on my squad.

In the Class A consolation round yesterday it was:
Hibbing/Chisholm 6, Mankato East/Loyola 2
Alexandria 7, Mound Westonka 6

Nice to see two northern schools advancing to play for the Consolation Championship tomorrow morning at Ridder.

In the first Class a semifinal Warroad came out very flat and allowed SPU to totally dominate the first period, getting outshot 18 to 4 and outscored 2-0. Things stabilized for the Warriors in the second, and the play was pretty even with the teams trading goals. Then Warroad found their legs in the third and climbed back to make it a one goal game, only to allow SPU's Maggie Connors to get free and restore her team's two goal lead. No doubt it was a game that senior Connors will never forget, as she led her team to the Class A championship final with the hat trick.

Well that was a spanking. Good luck to Blaine tomorrow night. I had kids at Blaine, so I cheer for them as well. First and third would be the best I could do with my teams.

Warroad takes 3rd Place in Class A with a 6-2 win over Northfield. A much closer game than the score would indicate, as it was 3-2 late in the 3rd period when Northfield pulled their goalie.
