Ive only been living in Minnesota since 2014-15 season but I feel that Tonka vastly under performs giving their talent pool. Hopefully a coaching change can take them back to a state tourney quality team.

Hanus? Brink? Goldsworthy?

(Or if you don't want someone that's a dad or uncle , who knows---- there might be available with good working conditions and benefits The Godfather's of Minnesota hockey John Russo or Lou Nanne 😀??)

Bantam AA coach - Brian Murphy. Tonka would be lucky to have him coach Varsity.

Stepping down was “100 percent” Urick’s decision, Minnetonka activities director Ted Schultz said.

Riiiiiiight....nothing to do with younger superstars parents chirping.

Granted they've underachieved the last few years...but c'mon, we're not stupid.[/i]

I have confirmed with multiple sources directly involved with the program that what was said in ST article that Brian stepped down and was asked by the AD to reconsider is true.

Brian is getting married soon - coaching HS hockey and the first year of marriage isn't easy. I know from personal experience ('96 was the hardest year I coached and I was only coaching PWA...lol).

I have confirmed that both Sean Goldsworthy (Tonka alum, former St. Olaf coach for 19 years, uncle to Luke Loheit) and Brian Murphy (Bantam AA coach for Tonka for 5 years).

AD Ted Schultz will likely have 5-10 really good candidates to choose from over the next few weeks. My guess is that an overwhelming majority of the players and parents would want Brian Murphy.

Stay tuned.

does anybody think that the state law prohibiting the firing of high school coaches exclusively from parent pressure actually works?
